About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

CrowdStrike Named a Leader and Outperformer in the 2024 GigaOm Radar Report for Ransomware Prevention

CrowdStrike earns perfect scores across 10 critical categories and achieves a top average score; noted for leading in AI innovation and automation to stop ransomware

CrowdStrike (NASDAQ: CRWD) today announced it has been named a Leader and Outperformer in the 2024 GigaOm Radar Report for Ransomware Prevention. The report recognized the innovation and leadership of the CrowdStrike Falcon® cybersecurity platform, awarding it 10 perfect scores across critical categories, including Predictive Analytics, Data Exfiltration Protection, Response Automation, Security Ecosystem Integration and Ease of Management. CrowdStrike achieved a top average score among all evaluated vendors.

Ransomware continues to disrupt organizations globally, with attacks becoming more sophisticated and destructive. According to the GigaOm report, “Ransomware is a multi-faceted problem with multiple attack vectors and many ways that attacks can impact data, including the growing problems of double and triple extortion attacks. To be effective in protecting customers from this widening threat often requires a broad platform approach.” The Falcon platform delivers an integrated, single-platform approach to ransomware prevention, combining AI-powered threat detection, behavior-based analytics, identity protection and proactive threat hunting from CrowdStrike Falcon® Adversary OverWatch. This empowers customers to stop ransomware at every stage, from initial delivery to lateral movement and privilege escalation – stopping attacks before they can cause damage.

The report highlighted several key differentiators that reinforce CrowdStrike’s position as a market leader, including:

  • Comprehensive Platform Approach: The report highlights that “CrowdStrike offers a broad security platform that covers endpoint protection, identity protection, cloud security, IT automation and next-gen SIEM,” noting that its “modular approach allows customers to develop a comprehensive platform that covers ransomware threats across endpoints, networks, clouds, and identity,” and “its Falcon platform enables comprehensive ransomware detection, prevention, and protection.”
  • Innovation in AI and Automation: The Falcon platform leverages AI-driven threat detection to streamline decision-making, simplify querying large datasets and enhance automated responses. As noted by GigaOm, "CrowdStrike scored well on our emerging features and continues to invest and innovate rapidly, especially in areas such as AI and automation, marking it as an Outperformer.” The report also noted “The company remains innovative in a wide range of areas, such as its use of Charlotte AI, its generative AI ‘security analyst,’ to enhance its capabilities.”
  • Security Ecosystem Integrations: CrowdStrike’s extensive platform integrations were cited as a differentiating factor, with GigaOm noting that the “CrowdStrike marketplace offers an extensive set of integrations across a wide range of existing security tools, including SIEM, XDSR, cloud identity platforms, and email security, as well as ITSM tools like Jira and ServiceNow. This helps customers to easily bring CrowdStrike into their existing security workflows.”

“Ransomware remains one of the most urgent challenges for organizations, and CrowdStrike is consistently recognized by analysts and independent testing firms for our unparalleled ability to stop these attacks,” said Raj Rajamani, head of products, CrowdStrike. “Being cited as a Leader and Outperformer by GigaOm underscores our ability to meet the challenges of today, and set the standard for ransomware defense moving forward. CrowdStrike transformed cybersecurity by leveraging AI to offer the most comprehensive protection that delivers the security outcome customers need most – stopping the breach.”
