About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Aureon Opens Applications for 2025 Scholarships, Expanding Support to Iowa Students in STEM and Technology

Scholarship Program to Offer Increased Financial Awards and New Opportunities for High School Students

Aureon, a trusted technology solution provider of connectivity, managed IT, talent solutions, and contact center services, announced today the opening of applications for its 2025 Scholarship Programs. Launching this December, “Aureon STEM Scholarship” and “Aureon Scholarship for Technology Students” are designed to support high school students across Iowa pursuing degrees in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics. With expanded financial support and eligibility, these scholarships reflect Aureon’s commitment to fostering Iowa’s future industry leaders in these fields.

The Aureon STEM Scholarship Program, established in 2003, focuses on supporting students from rural communities served by Iowa Telecommunications Company (ITC) owners who plan to study a STEM-based curriculum. To date, this program has awarded more than $150,000 to students pursuing STEM degrees at accredited institutions within Iowa. For the 2024-2025 cycle, eligible applicants must reside in an ITC-served area, maintain a minimum GPA of 3.33, and be accepted into an Iowa-based four-year college, university, community college, or vocational-technical school. This year’s STEM Scholarship will award $10,000, distributed among the top six applicants.

In addition, Aureon’s Scholarship for Technology Students targets high school juniors and seniors from metro areas directly served by Aureon, including cities such as Des Moines, West Des Moines, and Davenport. This scholarship is aimed at students pursuing technology degrees and offers a total of $5,000 in awards. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.00, reside in one of the designated communities, and be accepted into an Iowa-based institution to qualify.

“As a technology-driven company, Aureon is dedicated to supporting the next generation of STEM and technology leaders,” said Carey Stover, Chief Experience Officer of Aureon. “These scholarships help empower Iowa’s youth to make impactful contributions to their communities and to fields critical for innovation and growth.”

Applications for both scholarship programs are now open, and Aureon encourages all eligible students to apply early. For full application details, including eligibility criteria and award distribution, please visit the Aureon Scholarship Program page.
