About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

University of Phoenix Continues Nationwide Networking Series, "Small Bites, Big Connections," Fostering Alumni Community Bonds

Events Across Eight Alumni Chapters Offer Graduates Valuable In-Person Networking Experiences

University of Phoenix is pleased to share the continuation of its “Small Bites, Big Connections” events, designed to provide graduates across the country with exclusive opportunities to connect through local Alumni Chapters and engage in valuable in-person networking experiences. Beginning in February with events in Chicago, Illinois; Houston, Texas; and Fort Lauderdale, Florida, the series will run through March and April 2024, featuring events hosted by eight University of Phoenix alumni chapters nationwide.

"The University of Phoenix is more than a university. We are a thriving community of those who have invoked grit and a determination to succeed,” shares Chris Celauro, Director of Alumni Experience for the University of Phoenix. “Throughout the year, our community of local alumni chapters actively contribute to their own communities. These new events not only bolster their efforts but also provide a platform for our nationwide alumni network to give back to the local communities that gave to them.”

This series of in-person events is an extension of the University's longstanding commitment to improving the lives of its students and producing graduates who are well-educated professionals equipped to make a positive impact in their communities. The University of Phoenix is renowned for its strong alumni network with more than one million members. The alumni network hosts in-person and virtual events throughout the year to support professional development, networking and community engagement.

"It’s always an awesome and wonderful experience whenever I can personally connect with my fellow alum,” shares Chicago Alumni Chapter President, Len Henley. “The best part about our Small Bites and Big Connections event was listening to the testimonies of chapter members and how University of Phoenix helped them lay the foundation for their success. My vision for the Chicago Alumni Chapter has been to strategically place people in an atmosphere where they can shine and advance. Our chapter’s growth has prompted the formation of our first leadership team, underscoring our commitment to enhancing the membership experience. The connections we make go beyond events, evolving into lasting personal relationships, partnerships, and friendships."

Six more “Small Bites, Big Connections” events are slated for the year, including:

  • March 9, 2024, in Orlando, Fla.
  • March 14, 2024, in Tampa, Fla.
  • March 16, 2024, in Charleston, S.C.
  • April 5, 2024, in Philadelphia, Pa.
  • April 11, 2024, in Milwaukee, Wis.
