About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

A CO Online School is Now NCAA Approved, Opening Academic and Athletic Doors for its Digital Learning Students

Destinations Career Academy of Colorado students can take courses needed to be a college athlete

Destinations Career Academy of Colorado (CODCA), a tuition-free Colorado online public school, is excited to announce that the NCAA has approved its core curriculum, benefiting elite student athletes throughout Colorado that have opted for online learning at CODCA.

CODCA prides itself on being a flexible schooling option for students with different types of learning needs and schedules. One of the groups CODCA serves well is elite athletes with demanding practice schedules that would otherwise be too challenging to manage with a brick-and-mortar school environment. At CODCA, student athletes can do their course work from anywhere there is an internet connection and on their own time. With CODCA’s NCAA approval, the Colorado online public school can help set students up for athletic and academic success in college and beyond.

“Ensuring that our students experience a safe and supportive learning environment that helps them thrive is one of our biggest priorities,” said CODCA’s Executive Director, Teri Cady. “Receiving NCAA approval means that our state’s elite athlete students no longer must choose between getting a sound education and pursuing their passions. They can manage their busy training schedules while still getting a Colorado public school education at CODCA that offers them the flexibility and opportunities to pursue their athletic passions.”

Destinations Career Academy of Colorado (Destinations) is a public online school, authorized by Julesburg School District and the CO Department of Education, approved by the NCAA, and serves students living across the entire state of Colorado. Destinations, powered by K12, helps students in grades 4–12 get a jump-start on their college and career dreams by combining dynamic core academics with authentic college and career exploration in over 20 approved Career and Technical pathways. Students can enroll in classes that will introduce them to potential careers in agriculture, business, IT, health and human services, and STEM fields. Students also have the opportunity to earn college credits in high school, online, and tuition-free, potentially saving thousands of dollars in college tuition costs. The school also offers all eligible students access to a Free and Reduced Lunch Program, ensuring nutritious meals are available to them even while learning from home.

Enrollment at CODCA is now open for the 2024-2025 school year. Further requirements for Division I, Division II, and Division III vary and can be found on the NCAA website at: www.ncaa.org. To learn more about CODCA, visit: https://codca.k12.com/about-our-school/we-are-ncaa-approved/.

About The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA)

NCAA is an organization dedicated to the well-being and success of college athletes. The NCAA is composed of member schools and these institutions award athletic scholarships every year and provide support to help student athletes pursue their athletic passions and successfully graduate from college.

The NCAA is broken into three divisions—Division I, Division II, and Division III—to create an even playing field for players from similar schools and create more opportunities for college athletes to compete in various championships. Division I schools generally have the largest student body, the largest athletics budgets, and the highest number of athletic scholarships. Division II schools tend to focus more on academic achievement and service to the community. Division III schools maintain the participation in a competitive athletics environment that still pushes academic excellence. Sports such as football, soccer, volleyball, gymnastics, swimming, baseball, lacrosse, and tennis are included in the NCAA and students strive to play at the collegiate level.
