About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Windstream Enterprise Wins Three Stevies® in 2024 American Business Awards®

IT Managed Services Provider Wins Gold for “A Paradigm Shift in Cybersecurity” with SASE Network Security Solution in 22nd Annual American Business Awards

Windstream Enterprise, a leading IT managed services provider, announced it earned three prestigious Stevie® awards in the 2024 American Business Awards. Windstream took the Gold for its Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) solution, powered by Cato Networks; Silver for its Contact Center as a Service (CCaaS) solution, powered by Talkdesk, and Bronze for its IT Managed Services portfolio.

The judges who selected Windstream noted that the company has made impressive strides in adopting artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud technologies. One judge stated, “With its comprehensive SASE offering, and ongoing commitment to customer satisfaction, the company continues to set the standard for cybersecurity excellence in the industry.”

Windstream’s combination of SASE with SD-WAN connectivity and advanced security layers safeguards business edges and offers “a paradigm shift in cybersecurity, providing organizations with comprehensive protection and streamlined management capabilities,” according to another judge.

Judges also commended CCaaS powered by Talkdesk for applying AI to assist contact center agents in real time with both customer experience and employee productivity enhancements. In addition, Windstream’s IT Managed Services and its comprehensive range of services, cost-saving benefits and positive impacts on business customers stood out among the pack for its value in supporting overly taxed enterprise IT departments.

“These awards underscore our innovation mindset and how our customizable services are carefully designed to solve business problems,” said Michael Flannery, president, Windstream Enterprise. “Because enterprise IT staffs are buckling under the strain of increased cyberthreats, as well as remote work environments, digital transformation mandates and an historic talent shortage, Windstream’s intelligent, award-winning solutions and dedicated support give them real-world support to achieve their business goals in a competitive landscape with a trusted, experienced partner.”

More than 3,700 nominations from organizations of all sizes and in virtually every industry were submitted this year for consideration in The American Business Awards, the U.S.A.’s premier business awards program. Winners were determined by the average scores of more than 300 professionals over three months of judging from February-April. All organizations operating in the U.S.A. are eligible to submit nominations—public and private, for-profit, and non-profit, large and small.

“While growth in much of the world economy has recovered slowly from the COVID-19 pandemic, the American economy continues to show remarkable resilience and growth,” said Stevie Awards president Maggie Miller. “Our 2024 Stevie winners have contributed to that successful recovery through their innovation, persistence and hard work. We congratulate all our winners in the 2024 ABAs and look forward to celebrating their achievements during our June 11 awards banquet in New York.”
