About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Clearfield’s Kevin Morgan Named as One of Twin Cities Business Notable Chief Marketing Officers for 2024

Morgan recognized for the positive changes he championed in the fiber broadband industry

Clearfield (NASDAQ: CLFD), the leader in community broadband fiber connectivity, today announced that Kevin Morgan, Chief Marketing Officer of Clearfield, Inc., has been named a Notable Chief Marketing Officer for 2024 by Twin Cities Business. This award goes to those who have proven themselves and the brands they represent worthy of recognition.

To qualify for this list, individuals must have shown an ability to effect change in their industry; Morgan has played an integral role over the past several decades through his work at the companies he has been a part of, as well as the industry associations he has helped lead. He is highly regarded as a leading advocate for how the industry brings high-speed broadband to all of America, including the rural community broadband networks represented by Clearfield customers.

“Kevin has truly been an asset to the Clearfield team since joining us eight years ago,” said Cheri Beranek, Chief Executive Officer at Clearfield. “His ideas continue to help Clearfield take fiber further and reach the underserved and unserved markets. His expertise is not only a huge value to us, but to those in the industry he helps to educate while traveling and speaking at events.”

Morgan has led Clearfield’s marketing efforts since 2016. Together with the organization's founders and the rest of the leadership team, he honed the company's messaging, building Clearfield’s reputation as the leading fiber connectivity and fiber management supplier and helping broadband service providers reduce the cost of deployment.

“I am both humbled and honored to have been named to Twin Cities Business’ Notable Chief Marketing Officer 2024 list,” said Morgan. “Earning this award is a testament showing that the work we have been doing at Clearfield is helping to advance the fiber broadband industry.”

Morgan served as the Chairman of the Board for the Fiber Broadband Association for three of the past nine years where he led efforts with federal agencies and Congress to educate them on the benefits of fiber-based high-speed broadband. These efforts were critical in securing over $100 billion of federal funding for broadband in the decade from 2020-30. He now serves as a member of the organization’s Senior Council. Recognized for his domain expertise and industry knowledge, he is a frequent speaker at industry events and conferences.
