About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

UserTesting Appoints David Smith as New Chief Technology Officer

Incumbent CTO moves into newly created role of Chief Innovation Officer

UserTesting, a SaaS leader in experience research and insights, today announced the appointment of David P. Smith as UserTesting’s Chief Technology Officer. In this role, David will advance the engineering team and scale the technology infrastructure to support UserTesting's growth and expansion into new markets. Demonstrating UserTesting’s ongoing dedication to innovation, current CTO Kaj van de Loo will transition to the newly created role of Chief Innovation Officer, focusing on driving transformation initiatives and exploring new technologies in partnership with customers.

David P. Smith brings a wealth of experience from his previous roles at R1 RCM, VisitPay, Zapproved, Wolters Kluwer, ACTIVE Network, and ServiceU Corporation. With a proven track record in developing scalable and highly available software solutions across finance, legal, payment processing and healthcare industries, David has been instrumental in leveraging technology to build and lead global teams, delivering solutions that outperform competitors. His expertise in utilizing platforms like AWS and Azure has driven significant success and growth in his previous roles.

Kaj van de Loo, the current CTO, will transition to the newly created role of Chief Innovation Officer. He will support large-scale deployments, integrations with new technologies, and drive new and transformational workflows across an organization. Kaj will focus on transforming how organizations use experiential insights to spark new revenue streams, reduce costs, and mitigate product development risks in collaboration with our customers.

“From technological advancements like AI to rising customer expectations and global economic pressures, many factors are contributing to a constantly evolving market landscape. This demands businesses to be innovative, agile, and customer-focused to thrive,” said Andy MacMillan, CEO of UserTesting. “These two strategic appointments reflect our commitment to helping companies transform how they use experiential insights and deliver exceptional customer experiences. By embracing the idea of co-creating with our customers, we aim to innovate collaboratively, to help them rethink how they can build products and experiences customers love.”

About UserTesting

UserTesting is fundamentally changing the way digital products and experiences are built and delivered by helping organizations get insights from customers–from concept to execution. Built on top of a world-class, on-demand sourcing engine, customers can receive fast, high quality, opt-in feedback from both our proprietary and partner-sourced audience networks around the world. UserTesting offers the industry's most comprehensive experience research and insights solution. Unlike approaches that track user behavior or collect customer listening data on live experiences, then try to infer what that data means, UserTesting enables companies to get input directly from customers–earlier in the process–helping to reduce guesswork, and bringing experience data to life with human insight. The company, formed through the combination of UserTesting & UserZoom, has more than 3,000 customers worldwide, including 75 of the Fortune 100 companies. To learn more, visit www.usertesting.com.
