About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

DS Smith partners with Chattahoochee Riverkeeper to encourage environmental stewardship and foster clean water for Atlanta community

Sustainability is core to DS Smith’s purpose of redefining packaging for a changing world

DS Smith, a leading global provider of sustainable, fiber-based corrugated packaging, today announced it has partnered with Chattahoochee Riverkeeper (CRK) to support its mission to educate, advocate and secure the protection and stewardship of the Chattahoochee River, as well as engage DS Smith Atlanta area employees in environmental stewardship.

As part of this partnership, DS Smith will be a gold sponsor of Chattahoochee Riverkeeper’s 30th Anniversary Patron Celebration on October 4 in Atlanta. The event raises funds to cover a significant portion of CRK’s annual operating budget, which supports its program services. These programs include in-stream trash removal, water quality monitoring, an educational floating classroom, water planning and conservation, legislative work and enforcement. In addition, the Atlanta area DS Smith team will participate in a river cleanup activity with CRK in October.

“The partnership with Chattahoochee Riverkeeper reflects our commitment to sustainability and community,” said Ryan Rogers, DS Smith Corporate Affairs Director for North America. “By partnering with CRK, we will create opportunities for our employees to make an impact in the community and learn more about how important it is to ensure there is enough clean water now and for future generations.”

Since 1994, CRK has employed strategies including water quality testing, litter cleanups, research and education in the headwaters region as part of its mission to protect the Chattahoochee watershed for all the people and wildlife that depend on it.

“Chattahoochee Riverkeeper is grateful for the support of DS Smith,” said Chattahoochee Riverkeeper and Executive Director Jason Ulseth. “This new partnership will propel CRK toward our vision of a Trash-Free Chattahoochee River by engaging DS Smith volunteers to help remove trash, tires and recyclables from the waterways. DS Smith backs its hands-on support with vital funding to help sustain CRK’s water quality monitoring, education and advocacy programs. We look forward to a meaningful collaboration working toward a clean and sustainable river.”

DS Smith, through its Now & Next Sustainability strategy, is taking action today to lead the transition to a low carbon, circular economy. This strategy focuses on four areas including circularity, carbon, communities and nature. DS Smith is proud of the progress made to date in partnership with customers, suppliers and communities. The company is well on track to meet ambitious targets and, in some cases, is ahead of schedule.
