About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

FICO Brings Free Financial Literacy Workshops to Washington, D.C. on Final Stop of Chelsea FC’s Summer Tour

FICO’s Score A Better Future credit education events are designed to teach teens and adults personal finance skills and credit education information for achieving their financial goals

On August 24, global analytics software leader, FICO, will host two free events: a free Score A Better Future ™ (SABF) event for adults and a Score A Better Future Fundamentals credit education event for teens. These events aim to provide Washington, D.C. residents with the knowledge and resources necessary to enhance their understanding of their future financial health, including the role of credit and an overview of the FICO® Score, the credit score used by 90% of top US lenders.

By pairing this educational opportunity with the excitement of the soccer match during the Fields of Financial Empowerment tour, FICO seeks to raise awareness of the importance of financial education. Working together with the U.S. Soccer Foundation and the Arlington County Girls Academy, FICO will bring 50 local girl soccer players to the Chelsea FC Women's practice facility the day before the match for a questions and answers session and meet-and-greet with the players. The following day, participants of SABF and Fundamentals workshops will have the opportunity to attend the Chelsea FC Women x Arsenal Women FC match, held at 7:00 p.m. EDT at the Audi Field.

The U.S. Soccer Foundation, in collaboration with the Open Goal Project, plays a vital role in bringing teens to the FICO’s Score a Better Future Fundamentals workshops, designed to educate high school and middle school students on how FICO® Scores can impact their future and how to develop good financial habits.

"We are excited to host the final Score A Better Future and Fundamentals events during the Chelsea FC Women’s Pre-Season Tour,” said Jenelle Dito, senior director of client services at FICO. “FICO is dedicated to expanding access to financial literacy education and we hope our stop in the nation’s capital provides people with the tools needed to empower and help achieve their financial goals. We appreciate every attendee who has allowed us to support and be a part of their personal finance journey.”

The Washington, D.C. SABF event registrants will be able to hear from FICO’s partner, Money Management International (MMI) and have an opportunity to set up a free consultation with MMI to get their FICO® Score, discuss their credit report, and set a plan to achieve their financial goals.
