About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

In connection with its introduction of Claritin® Liquid, Actress Natasha Rothwell, Who Was Born in Wichita, Calls on Locals to Sign a Petition to Rename City to ‘Wita’, Helping them Ditch the Allergy-Induced Itch

Itching for allergy relief this fall? So are residents of Wichita, Kansas, the No. 1 allergy capital in the United States, according to the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America (AAFA). This September, Claritin®, the #1 doctor-recommended non-drowsy oral allergy OTC brand from Bayer, is aiming to take the “itch” out of Wichita and bring relief to its residents with its newest innovation, Claritin® Liquid. Together with new spokesperson, who was born in Wichita and is no stranger to allergy symptoms, Natasha Rothwell, Claritin® is calling on Wichita residents to sign a petition to change the city’s name to “Wita” in celebration of its new product and its ability to help them ditch the itch. If the petition reaches 1,000 signatures, Claritin® and Rothwell will pop up in the city to give local allergy sufferers the chance to experience the powerful relief that Claritin® Liquid provides with 1,000 free product samples (while supplies last).

“I know how frustrating seasonal allergies can be,” said Natasha Rothwell, born in Wichita. “I am excited to come out and help end the itch.”

In addition to offering residents of Wichita free samples of its New Cooling Honey Flavored Liquid if the petition reaches 1,000 signatures, Claritin® has also committed a monetary donation to the Wichita Parks Foundation to give everyone the chance to enjoy the outdoors.

“Wichita is celebrated as the Air Capital of the World and offers so much to its residents from its vibrant downtown to its beautiful parks, but it’s also notorious for its higher-than-average tree and grass pollen,” said Trevor Thrun, Vice President and General Manager of Upper Respiratory at Bayer. “Claritin remains dedicated to helping allergy sufferers enjoy their lives, and we’re proud to support this commitment by contributing to the Wichita Parks Foundation. Our goal is for everyone to fully enjoy this beautiful city without the discomfort of itchy nose, throat and eyes.”

NEW Claritin® Liquid provides non-drowsy 24-hour relief from itchy throat or nose, sneezing, runny nose, and itchy, watery eyes that can be triggered by allergens such as pollen, dust mites, pet dander and mold. The product is available in 2.7 and 8.0 fluid-ounce bottles, which can be purchased online at Amazon.com and in-store at retailers nationwide including CVS, Kroger, Walgreens and Walmart. The MSRP ranges from $9.99 - $26.99 USD.
