About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Similarweb’s 2025 Digital 100 Celebrates Web and App Growth in the US, UK, France, Germany, Japan, Australia, India, and Brazil

Substack recognized for web and app growth, while ChatGPT’s website made the winners list in the US, the UK, France, and Australia.

The annual Digital 100 ranking for 2025, released today by the leading digital market intelligence experts at Similarweb (NYSE: SMWB), celebrates the companies that demonstrated the most significant digital growth in the US, UK, France, Germany, Japan, Australia, India, and Brazil.

“Every year, the Digital 100 allows us to celebrate companies achieving tremendous growth within highly competitive sectors of the digital economy,” said Or Offer, CEO and founder of Similarweb. “The Digital 100 report is a powerful tool to help organizations understand and elevate their performance in the digital world.”

The awards are organized around industry categories plus a Big Winners category that identifies the major players producing continued growth. The report identifies the fastest-growing websites and the cross-platform Digital Winners exhibiting web and app growth. For the first time, the US and UK editions of the Digital 100 provide an equal depth of coverage for the 100 fastest-growing mobile apps and websites. The reports for France, Germany, Japan, Australia, India, and Brazil name a shorter list of app winners.

While the winners varied by country, one recurring player was ChatGPT, OpenAI’s generative AI chatbot, which was #1 in the Big Winners category for France, #3 in Australia, #4 in the UK, and #9 in the US. Substack was also identified as a cross-platform Digital Winner in the US (among the Big Winners) and the UK (among News & Media websites and apps). Particularly in the US and UK, the Big Winners category was dominated by News & Media websites, often with a distinct partisan tilt. Look for more detail in the individual country reports listed below.

“In many cases, the #1 website and #1 app in a category belong to different companies, reflecting the distinct strategic roles each platform can play,” said Marta Sułkiewicz, VP Global Research Solutions at Similarweb. “For digital products and services, apps and websites often serve complementary purposes across customer acquisition, engagement, monetization, and retention. Ali Express managed to excel at both web and app growth in the UK, Germany, and Australia, earning our cross-platform Digital Winner award in those countries.“

The categories vary by country, but for the US and UK include Apparel & Accessories, Beauty & Wellness, Consumer Electronics, Food & Drinks, Gaming, Home & Garden, News & Media, Personal Finance, Travel & Tourism.
