About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Genasys Completes Alabama-Coushatta Tribe of Texas ACOUSTICS Installation & Commissioning

Genasys Protect Software Integration with National Weather Service Powers Autonomous ACOUSTICS Activation

Genasys Inc. (NASDAQ: GNSS), the global leader in Protective Communications, today announced the completion of the Genasys Acoustics (Acoustics) installations on the Alabama-Coushatta Tribe of Texas reservation. In addition to Acoustics, the Alabama-Coushatta Tribe of Texas recently added Genasys Protect software that includes autonomous weather activation under a follow-on order. The Genasys Protect / National Weather Service (NWS) integration automatically activates the Acoustics systems when a specific NWS weather alert polygon includes the reservation.

Strategically located throughout the 11,000-acre reservation, all 10 Acoustics sites feature solar power, battery backup, and satellite and 4G cellular connectivity to ensure redundancy and resiliency in a variety of terrains and weather conditions.

“The unprecedented flooding and loss of life that devastated the Texas Hill Country in July underscored the importance of jurisdictions investing in advanced technology, multi-channel emergency warning systems,” said Richard Danforth, Chief Executive Officer of Genasys. “We commend the Alabama-Coushatta Tribe of Texas tribal leaders for their investment in Genasys Acoustics voice broadcast systems and Genasys Protect software to further enhance the safety of tribal members, visitors, and tourists.”

Mr. Danforth continued, “At Genasys, we offer a better, proven multi-layered approach to help keep people safe in all hazards. Towns, cities and counties should not rely only on last century sirens and wide-area cellphone alerts. Sirens can cause confusion and delay life safety actions, while widespread cellphone alerts, if they are seen, are often ignored.

“Genasys Protect provides geo-targeted evacuation management and multi-channel all hazard notifications (cell, social media, mobile app notifications, TV, radio, and more),” added Mr. Danforth. “Our communication solutions are used by emergency managers and first responders to quickly and successfully evacuate people from danger. These solutions worked in tandem to help save countless lives in the January 2025 Los Angeles fires and helped certain jurisdictions and counties in the Southeast respond effectively last year during the floods and devastation of Hurricane Helene.”

Mr. Danforth concluded, “We entered our fiscal 2026 with record hardware backlog and record-setting software pipeline. With the Puerto Rico Early Warning System project well underway, the recently announced LRAD CROWS order, and other expected material orders, our business outlook is strong.”

Genasys offers a full suite of Protective Communications systems and solutions for public safety and all hazards emergency management. By providing targeted communication, data-driven decision making, secure intra-agency collaboration, and more, no other platform delivers fully integrated hardware and software solutions for proactive preparedness and disseminating real-time, multi-channel alerts, warnings, and notifications to save lives.
