About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Hightower Announces Launch of Hightower Signature Wealth

Hightower, one of the nation’s largest independent wealth management firms, today announced the launch of Hightower Signature Wealth (HTSW), its first national direct-to-consumer advisory practice. Designed as a new advisor channel, HTSW welcomes growth-minded RIAs to join our community of professionals who share a commitment to the scale, infrastructure, and brand recognition needed to compete at the highest levels of wealth management. HTSW complements Hightower’s existing model with a fully integrated platform that optimizes efficiency, streamlines operations, and leverages the firm’s national scale and resources.

HTSW unites practices under the Hightower brand with enhanced support in operations, marketing, technology, and investment management. This structure frees advisors to deepen client relationships and drive growth, while benefiting from consistent standards, scalable infrastructure, and succession-ready career paths for the next generation.

“Signature Wealth gives us a tangible, scalable way to showcase what sophisticated wealth management looks like,” said Larry Restieri, CEO of Hightower. “It’s also a feedback loop—bringing innovation and best practices from our community into our center, then pushing them back out to every advisor at Hightower.”

The Signature Wealth investment platform is anchored by Stephanie Link, Hightower’s Chief Investment Strategist and CNBC contributor, and supported by an institutional-grade team led by Randy Bullard, Hightower’s Head of Investment Management, in partnership with NEPC. Following Hightower’s 2024 majority investment in the $1.7 trillion1 institutional consultant, the platform now brings proprietary research, private markets access, and institutional-quality thought leadership to clients through an advisor-led experience.

Frontier Investment Management, one of Hightower’s largest and fastest-growing practices, is the first to join the Signature Wealth brand.

“When we joined Hightower, we wanted a partner who could fuel our growth while honoring who we are,” said Brian Hattendorf, Managing Partner of Frontier. “Hightower delivered—with scale, collaboration, and unconflicted access to trusted solutions. Signature Wealth is a natural next step, amplifying our reach and delivering a more integrated client experience.”

Hightower combines institutional resources, operational strength, and a collaborative culture to help advisors scale efficiently while preserving independence and client-first values. The firm acts as an amplifier for elite advisors, offering multiple avenues to grow and connect without compromising what makes their businesses distinct.

“At Hightower, we’re building the future of wealth management,” added Restieri. “With the addition of Signature Wealth, we can serve advisors who seek to maintain autonomy as well as those who seek to be part of a unified brand and team.”

Hightower plans to expand the Signature Wealth footprint in the coming months with additional leading advisors joining the brand early in the new year.

The nationwide Hightower advisor community now comprises advisor practices in 34 states and the District of Columbia. As of June 30, 2025, assets under management (AUM) for Hightower and its affiliates were approximately $324.3 billion.
