About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Pondurance Announces Asset Inventory Module Expanding Vulnerability & Exposure Management on Flagship MDR Platform

New MDR Module Supports Customers in Maintaining Accurate and Risk-Rated View of IT Assets Enhancing Proactive Threat Exposure Efforts

Pondurance, the leading provider of managed detection and response (MDR) cybersecurity services designed to minimize breach risks for mid-market organizations, today announced a new Asset Inventory Module for its flagship managed detection and response service. This new set of capabilities empowers organizations to create and maintain an accurate inventory of IT assets with specific cyber risk rating context in order to enhance proactive threat exposure efforts.

“Pondurance is a leading cybersecurity provider in bringing enterprise-class solutions to mid-market organizations spanning industries and types of regulated data,” said Doug Howard, CEO of Pondurance. “This new asset inventory module expands the capabilities of our next-generation MDR platform to enhance Pondurance’s SOC (Security Operations Center) delivery and our customers’ abilities to be more proactive in addressing cyber threat exposure risks.”

Organizations of all sizes are experiencing continually growing threats from cyber intrusions leading to data breaches and related harms; such as from ransomware and customer privacy compromises. Mid-market organizations in particular face specific, higher risks given that they are entrusted with sensitive personal and business data of their customers — including Personally Identifiable Information (PII), Protected Health Information (PHI), Payment Card Industry (PCI) data, Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI), and more — as well as that of their partners and industry alliances. However, they often lack the financial and technical resources to provide an appropriate level of cybersecurity.

New Asset Inventory Module Capabilities

Pondurance created this new Asset Inventory Module to enhance its innovative, next-generation MDR platform. This provides customers with broad visibility into their IT landscape with particular emphasis on the level of overall cyber risk, exposure and vulnerabilities posed by those assets.

This is provided by supported Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) tools monitored by the Pondurance SOC for our customers, such as those from Crowdstrike and SentinelOne, as well as from customer supplied lists or databases, the Pondurance Exposure & Vulnerability Service (eVMP), and other existing data Pondurance receives during its normal service delivery without the need for additional agents or deployment of specialty inventory monitoring software or hardware.

The Asset Inventory Module maintains information on all IT assets relevant to its cybersecurity posture affecting exposure, vulnerability and risk. To that end, Pondurance has created a risk score aligned with NIST and ISO approaches that is assigned to each asset. To ensure broad visibility, the module provides the ability to import and continuously update assets and related information.

Pricing and Availability

The new Asset Inventory Module for the Pondurance MDR Service is available immediately for all existing Pondurance MDR customers and will be available to all new Pondurance MDR customers. This module will be provided at no additional cost to customers of the Pondurance MDR service in any package or configuration.
