About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

In First Month, Underdog’s “The Arena” is #2 Most Watched Sports Show on YouTube, Behind Only McAfee

Hosted by Skip Bayless and Gilbert Arenas, The Arena hits 23 million views in September, its first month of broadcasting

The Arena: Gridiron, a new YouTube show co-owned by former NBA star Gilbert Arenas and Underdog, today announced that in its first month of broadcasting the show is already the second most-watched sports show on YouTube, behind only The Pat McAfee Show. The Arena: Gridiron, co-hosted by sports columnist and commentator Skip Bayless and Arenas himself, hit more than 23 million views in September, according to data from media analytics company, Mondo Metrics.

The Arena: Gridiron was launched as part of a rebranding of Gilbert Arenas’ successful basketball-focused show, Gil’s Arena, the #1 basketball show on YouTube, to broaden its focus beyond basketball. With the rebrand and launch of The Arena: Gridiron, the show saw viewership nearly double (93% increase) in its first month.

“Gil’s Arena quickly became THE place for basketball dialogue, and The Arena: Gridiron is already one of the top football shows in the country,” said Liam Roecklein, SVP Content & Partnerships at Underdog. “At Underdog we innovate not only on product, but also with our modern sports content. This style of content - authentic, always on, fan-engaged, thoughtful but unfiltered – is where the best of modern sports media is going, and we’re taking it to the next level with The Arena: Gridiron.”

The breakdown on the top sports shows, according to Mondo Metrics, is as follows:

  3. First Things First Pod - 23,048,536 views
  4. Nightcap - 22,631,644 views
  5. Club Shay Shay - 15,109,681 views

The Arena: Gridiron and Gil’s Arena are co-owned by Arenas and Underdog and air on the Underdog Network. Home to successful shows such as The Underdog Football Show, which also saw a significant increase (29.5%) in viewership in September, the Underdog Network represents an evolution in sports media. A hybrid of ESPN, Spotify, TikTok, and sports gaming, Underdog continually invests in its fan-first content ecosystem, featuring original shows, creator talent, and social engagement that transforms users into loyal communities.
