About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

“At Beacon, we believe in building better for our communities, and that starts with supporting the heroes who have sacrificed so much for our country,” said Jake Gosa, Beacon’s Chief Commercial Officer. “Our partnership with K9s For Warriors has allowed us to make a meaningful difference in the lives of Veterans while also saving the lives of shelter dogs. It’s an honor to continue this mission in 2025 with our largest commitment yet.”

The funds donated by TRI-BUILT, which include CertainTeed® as the largest supporting partner, will aid K9s For Warriors’ ongoing efforts to train Service Dogs and pair them with Veterans in need, offering life-saving support and assistance with their healing journey.

“CertainTeed is proud to partner with Beacon in supporting K9s For Warriors and their life-changing mission,” said Andrew Goldberg, CertainTeed’s Vice President, Sales. “Our contribution toward this incredible cause reflects our shared commitment of honoring Veterans and making a positive impact on their lives. Together, we’re helping to create powerful partnerships between Veterans and Service Dogs that transform lives and build hope for the future, in line with our mission of Making the World a Better Home.”

K9s For Warriors is a nonprofit organization that is committed to ending Veteran suicide and provides Veterans with highly trained Service Dogs, many being rescues, creating a powerful bond that aids in the Veteran's healing journey and gives a second chance to rescue dogs. The program saves two lives with each match – a rescue dog, and a Veteran in need. On average, they pair up to 16 Veterans with Service Dogs each month. To date, K9s For Warriors has rescued more than 2,000 dogs and paired nearly 1,100 Veterans with lifesaving Service Dogs.

“We are proud to recognize TRI-BUILT as our Partner of the Year,” said Steven Carmichael, K9s for Warrior’s Development Manager - Major Gifts. “Their unwavering support allows us to rescue even more dogs and transform them into life-changing companions for Veterans. Together, we are building brighter futures for Veterans who deserve it most.”

Beacon has been a longtime supporter of Veterans, annually hosting the Beacon of Hope, which rewards deserving Veteran homeowners and organizations with new roofs. To learn more about Beacon and its TRI-BUILT brand, visit: becn.com.
