About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Bayer® Aspirin Continues Longstanding Commitment to Heart Health Education, Encouraging Americans to “See Their Risks”

This February, Bayer® Aspirin Teamed Up with Acclaimed Artist, Jason Naylor, to Raise Awareness for Heart Health.

In the United States alone, 104 million people are at risk of cardiovascular disease, and in a study of those that experienced a heart attack at age 50 or younger, half were not previously seen as high risk. This February, Bayer® Aspirin is marking Heart Health Month with a new initiative to raise awareness and education about cardiovascular risk factors — especially among those who may dismiss the connection between age and heart health — and empower people to take proactive steps toward protecting their heart health by speaking with their healthcare provider about their risk factors.

Many people may dismiss risks to their heart health, believing they’re not at risk because they feel fine, lack a family history, or have no obvious risk factors. However, the prevalence of cardiovascular disease rises significantly with age, affecting 40 percent of people aged 40-59, 70-75 percent of those aged 60-79, and 79-86 percent of individuals aged 80 and older.1 Bayer® Aspirin is encouraging everyone to take the simple, 2-minute Bayer® Aspirin Heart Health Risk Assessment at SeeYourRisks.com to gain a clearer picture of their heart health risk factors and how they can take action to protect their heart, starting with having a proactive conversation with their healthcare provider.*

“Heart disease affects millions of people, many of whom are unaware of their risk,” said Sistine Jarvis, Director of U.S. Medical Affairs, Bayer Consumer Health. “We’re committed to raising awareness and to providing education to help people make informed decisions about their health together with their healthcare provider. This Heart Health Month, and every month, we’re encouraging everyone to check in on their heart health because the more you know, the more you can do to protect yourself and your loved ones.”

A recent study2 also revealed that heart disease can happen across all age groups. In fact, the difference in prevalence between older and younger generations is surprisingly narrow — Baby Boomers report a 23 percent prevalence, Gen X-ers 17 percent, Millennials 13 percent, and Gen Z-ers 15 percent. With 15 percent of Gen Z-ers potentially living with cardiac conditions, approximately 1 in 6 are at risk. In response, Bayer® Aspirin developed its assessment tool to provide an accessible option for heart health education, while also encouraging people to take the first step in understanding their personal heart health risk factors.

Limited-Edition Collaboration with Artist Jason Naylor

To further raise awareness about heart health, Bayer® Aspirin is partnering with acclaimed artist Jason Naylor, known for his vibrant heart-themed designs, to create a limited-edition crewneck sweatshirt featuring a spin on his signature “OPN Heart” design. This unique piece, which will be given away via a social sweepstakes, is designed to serve as a reminder for people to take care of their hearts and “See Your Risks.”**

“Health has always been important to me — emotional, physical, mental, it’s all tied together,” said Naylor. “My mission of spreading love and kindness to the world relies on my own personal ability to feel my best. OPN Heart was created as an icon of love, both for self and for others. It serves as a reminder that the more love we give, the more we will have. Without taking care of my heart health, I will not be able to spread love the way I want. I’m excited to partner with Bayer® Aspirin and use my OPN Heart design to focus this month on reminding everyone to take care of their hearts, in every way.”
