About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Company Pledges to Donate Building Materials Valued at Half a Million Dollars to Habitat for Humanity in 2025 as Part of its Continued Commitment to Help Build Affordable Housing for Families Across the U.S.

Cornerstone Building Brands, Inc. (“Cornerstone Building Brands”), a leading manufacturer of exterior building products in North America, has named GRAMMY® Award-winning country music trio Lady A as its 2025 Home for Good project ambassador. Continuing its commitment to building stronger, more sustainable communities, the company is also entering its ninth year of partnership with the global housing nonprofit Habitat for Humanity, pledging to donate building products valued at half a million dollars, as well as facilitating home builds and volunteer efforts to help build and remodel affordable housing for families in need across North America.

“We are excited to extend our partnership with Lady A and to have them lend their voices to our Home for Good project again in 2025,” said Rose Lee, president and chief executive officer of Cornerstone Building Brands. “Together, we hope to continue to help make homeownership more accessible for families in the communities where we live, work and play.”

Cornerstone Building Brands has donated more than $4.1 million in products and resources to help build or remodel 825 homes in more than 150 communities since the inception of the Home for Good project in 2016.

Partnering for Impact

Since joining forces with Cornerstone Building Brands as Home for Good project ambassadors in 2024, Lady A’s Dave Haywood, Charles Kelley and Hillary Scott — artists with strong philanthropic roots — have put in the work to help advance the Home for Good project’s mission. From rolling up their sleeves to help make critical repairs to an elderly couple’s home in Tennessee to supporting relief efforts following hurricanes Helene and Milton through the LadyAID Fund, Lady A has helped Cornerstone Building Brands make a real, immediate difference for families while heightening awareness of the affordable housing crisis.

The country music industry has been a steadfast supporter of the Home for Good project since its launch, with stars like Luke Bryan, Alan Jackson, Darius Rucker and more previously serving as ambassadors. “Music has a unique way of connecting us and creating community,” said Lee about the continued association with country music. “The country music artists who have served as Home for Good project ambassadors have been strong partners in raising awareness for the need of affordable housing. They have helped us broaden and deepen our impact as we help build and remodel homes for families in our communities.”

Lady A's Hillary Scott added, “We’re so touched to be part of the incredible work done through the Home for Good project again this year. Last year, we saw first-hand the life-changing impact Cornerstone Building Brands has on people in need of a safe, affordable place to call home through this project. So, we jumped at the opportunity to continue to be part of this meaningful work again and help deliver the safety and security only a home can bring to even more people across the country.”

The national housing affordability crisis continues to leave many families without homes to call their own — something Cornerstone Building Brands believes everyone deserves. Increased home prices and interest rates, as well as rising tax and insurance costs, continue to impact housing markets and affordability across the U.S., according to The State of the Nation’s Housing 2024 from the Harvard Joint Center for Housing Studies. Rising mortgage costs, driven in part by home prices reaching an all-time high in 2024, continue to push homeownership out of reach for millions of renters. This is evidenced by a 17% annual drop in the number of mortgages originated to first-time homebuyers in 2023 following a 22% decline in 2022.

Habitat for Humanity donation valued at $500,000 in 2025

This year, Cornerstone Building Brands is donating windows, vinyl siding, trim and accessories with an estimated fair market value of $500,000. Habitat for Humanity relies on the quality, affordability and ease of installation of these materials to build houses in partnership with families in need of safe, decent and affordable housing. In 2025, the Home for Good project is expected to support approximately 100 Habitat for Humanity builds.

“Habitat for Humanity believes that everyone should have access to a safe, decent and affordable home, yet families in the United States continue to face barriers to accessing affordable homeownership,” said Charlita Stephens-Walker, vice president of corporate partnerships and cause marketing at Habitat for Humanity International. “It is with the support of partners like Cornerstone Building Brands and their continued commitment that we are able to help more families build better futures. We are thankful to Cornerstone Building Brands and Lady A for their dedication to the Home for Good project and building a world where everyone has a place to call home.”
