About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Tri Pointe Homes Breaks Ground on New Community in Heber City, a Milestone for New-to-Utah Builder

New community, The Crossings at Lake Creek, to bring hundreds of homes to in-demand city

Tri Pointe Homes (NYSE: TPH), one of the nation’s largest homebuilders, broke ground on what will be one of many new communities it is building in Utah, The Crossings at Lake Creek located in Heber City. The Crossings is a planned community and includes an estimated 139 single-family homes by Tri Pointe Homes. The community’s first homes are anticipated to open for sales in summer 2025.

The groundbreaking ceremony on Wednesday, Feb. 5 included remarks from Tri Pointe Homes leadership, including Ken Krivanec, Division President for Tri Pointe Homes Washington and Utah, Bryon Prince, VP of Land Acquisition and Development for Tri Pointe Homes Utah, and Matt Cragun, VP of Operations for Tri Pointe Homes Utah.

“This groundbreaking marks an exciting milestone in our journey to building new homes and introducing our premium lifestyle brand to Utah homebuyers,” said Krivanec. “With a focus on delivering an exceptional customer experience and elevated home design, we are proud to bring our unique approach to this new market. Our new office in the Sugar House area will also be home to our design studio and underscores our commitment to the Beehive State.”

The Crossings’ Heber City location offers convenient commute times to local employment centers in Salt Lake City, Park City, Provo, and more. Tri Pointe’s home designs at The Crossings boast up to eight bedrooms, outdoor living areas, and up to 5,000 square feet when including finished basements. The community is located at 2732 E Hayloft, Heber City, Utah and the larger planned community is anticipated to feature a future clubhouse, pickleball courts, neighborhood pool, parks, a fishing pond, and 67 acres of open space and trails.

The first of several model homes will be available for viewing at The Crossings in mid- 2025. Tri Pointe Homes anticipates the opening of The Crossings' interest list in the coming month.

Tri Pointe Homes first announced its expansion to Utah in September 2023. Beyond the Heber City location, Tri Pointe Homes will soon be opening new communities in West Jordan and Holladay.

The homebuilder also recently announced expansions in Florida, and the Coastal Carolinas as part of the company’s broader strategy to increase its presence in high-growth regions across the U.S. Its approach, the “Best of Big and Small,” allows Tri Pointe’s regional divisions to benefit from local expertise, while backed by the resources of a national homebuilder.
