About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Anthropic Joins Palantir’s FedStart Program to Deploy Claude Application

Palantir Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ: PLTR) today announced that Anthropic will leverage Palantir’s FedStart offering to make Anthropic’s Claude application available to the government sector at FedRAMP High and DoD Impact Level 5 (IL5) security standards. Anthropic’s Claude for Enterprise offering is specifically designed for organizations that are looking for a secure AI solution that scales across cross-functional teams in support of deep work.

Palantir FedStart is a SaaS offering that helps accelerate federal go-to-market strategies by enabling companies to run their products within Palantir's Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP) and Impact Level (IL) accredited environment. FedStart provides a seamless pathway for companies to achieve compliance and scale their operations within the government sector. Through FedStart, Anthropic will be able to start offering Claude in the coming months to millions of federal government employees, enabling them to utilize Claude to enhance their efficiency in writing, analyzing data, and solving complex problems.

Anthropic’s Claude application will be hosted on Google Cloud. This deployment leverages a multi-cloud strategy with an ability to use multiple cloud inference services like Amazon Bedrock and Google Cloud’s Vertex AI. Palantir’s FedStart enables Anthropic to offer the government access to cutting-edge, accredited solutions across multiple cloud platforms for enhanced operational flexibility while maintaining the highest security and compliance standards.

“We are excited to support the collaboration between Palantir and Anthropic, leveraging Google Cloud’s FedRAMP High and Impact Level 5 (IL5) accredited commercial cloud infrastructure to deliver a highly scalable and secure environment for the Claude application,” said Karen Dahut, CEO of Google Public Sector. “We look forward to ensuring that the federal government has access to cutting-edge AI solutions on an enterprise-grade cloud infrastructure without delay.”

“Palantir’s FedStart offering will help bring Claude to the U.S. public sector, where we have seen significant interest from government agencies eager to use our products,” said Thiyagu Ramasamy, Head of Public Sector at Anthropic. “FedStart will allow Claude to comply with FedRAMP High and DoD Impact Level 5. With accreditation through FedStart, the federal civilian and defense workforce will be able to experience parity with the commercial experience of using Claude to ideate, collaborate, and build.”

“We built FedStart to accelerate the government’s ability to leverage the best, most innovative technologies as they emerge. By enabling the federal workforce to take advantage of Claude while ensuring strict adherence to the compliance and security requirements for processing U.S. government (USG) data, we are excited to help increase productivity and efficacy across government,” said Akash Jain, President of Palantir U.S. Government. “Anthropic builds some of the world’s leading AI applications, and we’re thrilled that our FedStart program can support Anthropic’s accreditation journey.”

Last year, Anthropic announced it partners with Palantir, through Palantir’s AI Platform (AIP), facilitated through Amazon Web Services’s SageMaker and Bedrock, to host Anthropic’s models on Palantir's Impact Level 6 (IL6) accredited environment, which requires some of the strictest policy protocols.
