About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

In 2019, Eddie and Kimberly Kiser started the company in Coeburn, Virginia with just one van and one employee. Over the past six years, the organization has offered innovative ideas around patient care, invested in cutting-edge fleet tracking technology, and created their own policies that enhance already established regulations. KDK Transport Company now encompasses over 75 vehicles with offices in Coeburn and Danville, Virginia.

“Eddie and Kimberly have been an incredibly positive force on their community and now employ approximately 118 Virginians and provide around 1,200 rides per week,” said Mary Eaglesfield, Modivcare’s Senior Director of Transportation, Virginia. “Their commitment to making sure members have a seamless experience and are able to get to their appointments on time is admirable, and we are proud to consider them a part of the Modivcare family.”

Recently, KDK Transport Company has invested in a new venture and established an ambulance company called Pro Med Ambulance Company. In just a short time, Pro Med has become the primary 911 provider for the Coeburn area. During this period of growth, KDK Transport Company has remained dedicated to its mission of providing the highest quality of care, maintaining an on-time performance rate that averages over 97% and a 0% member complaint rate.

“Since starting KDK Transport Company, our top priority has been changing the lives of everyone in our area for the better,” said the Kisers. “This includes not only those who we’re transporting, but also our employees. We owe a huge debt of gratitude to all of our employees, as none of this would be possible without them. We’re also so thankful to Modivcare for this recognition and for their continued dedication to being a reliable NEMT partner.”

Since 2001, Modivcare has grown its NEMT provider network in Virginia to more than 530 local providers across the state. Together, they employ over more than 3,700 compliant, contracted drivers and operate 2719 credentialed vehicles. Most of these partners are minority- and women-owned businesses, reflecting the commitment to supporting diverse, community-based partners. With 275 local teammates and a strong understanding of Virginia’s vast and varied geography, Modivcare effectively coordinates transportation services that connect members to the care they need—no matter where they live.
