About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Crypto.com Arena announces 15-year arena veteran Michael Becker as Vice President of Event Services & Production.

Crypto.com Arena announces 15-year arena veteran Michael Becker as Vice President of Event Services & Production.

In his new role, Becker will be responsible for overseeing the Crypto.com Arena Events Team, which acts as a liaison between the Los Angeles Lakers, LA Kings and Los Angeles Sparks, fulfilling all their building needs including giveaway distribution, sponsorship activations, in-game programming, seating and operations for their home games. This is in addition to the dozens of concerts and other special events taking place inside the iconic Downtown Los Angeles arena each year.

“Michael Becker understands our culture of excellence at Crypto.com Arena and his dedication to serving all our valued team partners, concert promoters, and special events has been demonstrated time and time again,” Danielle Snyder, Senior Vice President of Arena Services at Crypto.com Arena said. “We’re so proud to have him leading our Events & Production team as we continue our rich history of bringing some of the most memorable events in sports and entertainment to Crypto.com Arena.”

Becker came to the arena in 2010 after working with the Los Angeles Dodgers, Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim and working as a Special Education teacher. He started as a Guest Services Supervisor, rapidly learning the ropes of how events operate in a front of house capacity, before transitioning to the Event Services Department as an Event Manager.

“I’ve had the unique opportunity to experience things from both sides and see how our events operate once the doors open, to the exact opposite, which on the events side, you focus on everything up until the doors open,” Becker said. “Having the ability to balance those two things and continuing to build my knowledge base is something I truly appreciate. I’m not blind to the fact that not a lot of people get to take this particular journey, and I feel very fortunate.”

Some of Becker’s most memorable moments at Crypto.com Arena include the 2023 Eric Clapton Crossroads Guitar Festival, which took over the arena, Chick Hearn Court and Peacock Place at L.A. LIVE for two days and included a Guitar Center Festival Village and performances by Clapton along with Santana, Gary Clark Jr., Joe Bonamassa, Los Lobos, ZZ Top, Sheryl Crow and more. He vividly remembers the 2017 NHL All-Star Game and Becker and his team also helped oversee the Kobe and Gigi Bryant Memorial in 2020.
