Henry Schein Received Validation of Net-Zero Science-Based Targets

Company Commits to Science-Based Targets to Guide Pathway for Achieving Net-Zero Emissions by 2050

Henry Schein, Inc. (Nasdaq: HSIC), the world’s largest provider of health care solutions to office-based dental and medical practitioners, announced today that the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) has approved the Company’s near-term and long-term science-based emissions reduction targets and has verified Henry Schein’s net-zero science-based target by 2050.

“Having joined the Business Ambition for 1.5⁰C initiative in 2021, Henry Schein is pleased to fulfill our commitment to set net-zero emissions reduction targets. Sustainability is deeply rooted in our corporate culture, and we understand our role in mitigating our environmental impact, as climate change is one of today’s most important sustainability issues,” says Jennifer Kim Field, Chief Sustainability Officer at Henry Schein. “Our validated science-based targets bring us closer to realizing our Company’s mission to make the world healthier, together – which needs to be done in collaboration with health care professionals in order to have a healthier planet for healthier people.”

To achieve the near-term science-based targets, Henry Schein, Inc. commits to:

  • Reduce absolute scope 1 GHG (greenhouse gas) emissions by 42% by 2030 from a 2022 base year
  • Increase active annual sourcing of renewable electricity from 0% in 2022 to 100% by 2030
  • Reduce scope 3 GHG emissions by 51.6% per million USD value added (gross profit) by 2030 from a 2022 base year.

The committed net-zero targets include:

  • Reducing absolute scope 1 GHG emissions by 90% by 2050 from a 2022 base year
  • Continuing active annual sourcing of 100% renewable electricity through 2030
  • Reducing scope 3 GHG emissions by 97% per million USD value added (gross profit) by 2050 from a 2022 base year.
