University of Phoenix Vice Provost Receives Outstanding Women in Business Award

Doris Savron, MBA, recognized as one of twenty-five outstanding leaders across the region

University of Phoenix is pleased to announce that Doris Savron, MBA, vice provost of Colleges, Curriculum and Assessment, has received an Outstanding Women in Business Award from the Phoenix Business Journal. Savron is among 25 executives selected from more than 280 nominees across various fields, including the education, health care, real estate, and nonprofit sectors.

The Phoenix Business Journal honored recipients of the 25th annual Outstanding Women in Business event on March 25 at Chateau Luxe in north Phoenix. Savron's recognition underscores her dedication to advancing higher education and her impactful leadership at University of Phoenix. More than 300 people attended, including honorees and their guests, making it a memorable day of recognition and celebration.

“It is a true honor to be recognized among such a distinguished group of businesswomen in Arizona," Savron shared. "This award highlights the impactful contributions of female leaders in our community. It inspires me to continue leading with purpose and passion at the University of Phoenix, where we are dedicated to providing an exceptional education to our adult learners.”

According to the Phoenix Business Journal, women represent 33.5% of top executive roles in Arizona, which is higher than the national rate of 31.7% across industries. Similarly, a report from Business Insider ranked Arizona No. 7 among the top 20 states with the most women CEOs sitting at 40.53%.

In her current role at University of Phoenix, Savron draws on more than 23 years of experience in higher education as Vice Provost, overseeing the strategy for academic programs and curriculum design, institutional assessment and faculty. Her role includes oversight of strategy for degree, certificate and course offerings, design of curriculum and student learning outcomes for the University. Savron works collaboratively with her team members to innovate academic solutions that enable the University to provide exceptional student experiences and learning environments to support student success. In her tenure with University of Phoenix she has served as associate faculty, campus vice president, regional vice president of student services, and college operations.

Savron serves on the Board of Career Connectors, the Greater Phoenix Chamber Foundation Board, as well as several professional advisory councils. She is a member of the UPCEA Council for Credential Innovation focused on leveraging the strategic potential of non-degree credentials and noncredit education and training to transform institutions of higher education as well as the talent marketplace.

Savron is often sought out as a speaker for her expertise on mapping relevant skills in programs and building an infrastructure to support career tools in curriculum design, micro credentialing and other innovations in curriculum. Savron earned her MBA from Cleveland State University and is completing her doctorate in management in organizational leadership.
