Ecolab Delivers Once Again on Its Growth and Impact Performance, New Report Shows

Ecolab’s 2024 Growth & Impact Report details record year of business performance by helping deliver $9.1B in cumulative customer value, save enough water for 781M people and protect 1.7B people from illnesses

Ecolab Inc., a global sustainability leader offering water, hygiene, and infection prevention solutions, continues to grow fast by growing its impact and team while creating substantial customer value.

Released today, Ecolab’s 2024 Growth & Impact Report documents the company’s performance and ongoing progress toward its 2030 Positive Impact ambitions, including a newly included impact of cumulative total value delivered through the company’s services and solutions. The report reveals record financial and sustainability performance, delivered in partnership with customers and fueled by a high-performing and engaged team.

In 2024, Ecolab’s positive impact with customers helped:

Conserve 226 billion gallons of water, equivalent to the drinking water needs of 781 million people;
Protect 1.7 billion people from foodborne illnesses and infections;
Avoid 4.6 million metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions (GHG); and
Achieve $9.1 billion in cumulative value from the use of Ecolab solutions and services.ⁱ

While Ecolab makes its greatest impact through its work with customers, the company continued to lead by example in its own operations and communities. Signature accomplishments in 2024 include:

Water resilience: Continued its work as cofounder of the Water Resilience Coalition (WRC), which has grown to include 40 companies with a combined market capitalization of $5 trillion. As WRC basin champion for California, Ecolab convened the second annual forum of the California Water Resilience Initiative (CWRI), aligning with public sector goals.
Renewable energy: Achieved 100% renewable electricity in Ecolab’s EU operations, reaching 71% renewable globally and on track to 100% by 2030.
Fleet electrification: Accelerated efforts to convert Ecolab’s North American sales and service fleet to electric vehicles by 2030.
Alternative fuels: Collaborated to grow the Minnesota Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) hub alongside the Greater MSP Partnership, Delta Air Lines, Xcel Energy, and Bank of America, aiming to scale SAF production and use.
Science-based climate targets: Earned approval from the Science-based Targets initiative (SBTi) for Ecolab’s near- and long-term GHG emissions targets.
Leading certifications: Secured additional Alliance for Water Stewardship (AWS) certifications, bringing its total count of AWS-certified facilities to 13.
Circular economy: Avoided 15.9 million pounds of virgin plastic resin and launched new products like the Disinfectant 1 Wipe and Ecolab^® ReadyDose™, advancing waste reduction ambitions.
Community impact: Donated $21.7 million to global communities through product donations, cash grants and associate volunteerism.
Winning teams: Drove record results while cultivating a winning team committed to engagement and inclusion for all associates across its global workforce.
Recognition: Received accolades for corporate responsibility, climate and water leadership from Ethisphere, CDP, JUST Capital, Dow Jones, Fortune and others.
