About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

The report showcases innovation, progress in climate action and a people-first culture

H.B. Fuller Company (NYSE: FUL), the world’s largest pureplay adhesives company, today released its 2024 Sustainability Report, highlighting its efforts to drive sustainable innovation, minimize environmental impacts, and build an inclusive workplace culture. From recycling to supporting a circular economy, H.B. Fuller is deeply committed to enabling our customers’ innovation goals, working alongside them to innovate for a better world.

“H.B. Fuller’s 2024 report reflects the deep integration of sustainability into every aspect of our business — from how we innovate and operate to how we support our people and communities,” said Celeste Mastin, president and CEO, H.B. Fuller. “We are proud of our progress and energized by the opportunities ahead to drive meaningful impact.”

2024 Report Highlights:

  • Sustainable Innovation: About 60% of the company’s new product development is focused on improving the sustainability of customers’ end products, including recyclable packaging, energy-efficient building materials, and electric vehicles.
  • Climate Action and Clean Energy: H.B. Fuller continues to work toward meeting sustainability targets in line with Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) standards, while expanding solar energy use across five countries, including India, Colombia, and China.
  • Inclusive Culture and Empowered Talent Development: 90% of employees participated in the company’s Employee Voice survey, submitting more than 70,000 comments, and nearly 400 mentorship pairings were created through a new digital platform.

  • Strong Governance: H.B. Fuller’s Board of Directors reflects strong governance principles, with 88% independent directors and 50% female representation, ensuring diverse perspectives guide the company’s long-term strategy. In January 2025, Teresa (Terry) Rasmussen, president and CEO of Thrivent, was appointed Chair of H.B. Fuller’s Board of Directors. A director since 2020, Rasmussen brings deep expertise in organizational transformation and strategic leadership to her role.

People-First Culture

We invest in programs that empower, support, and promote the well-being of our employees around the world so they stay and grow with H.B. Fuller. We also build partnerships and engage externally to benefit our employees’ families and communities.

The company’s “At Your Best” and “Trust Edge” programs continue to build a culture that supports our values: the Spirit of Winning, the Power of Collaboration, and the Essence of Courage.

We are passionate about being a responsible corporate citizen — committed to improving the quality of life in the communities where we live and work by supporting employee volunteerism and global philanthropy.

Product Innovation in Action

At H.B. Fuller, we embed sustainability in everything that we do. Our innovative and high-performance adhesives are designed for unmatched bonding performance, while also helping to make the world better by contributing to our customers’ product sustainability. With a wide variety of technologies, our products serve industries from packaging to automotive to construction and many others.

The organization is advancing commercial roofing installation in 2025 with Millennium PG-1 EF ECO2, a high-performance adhesive powered by patented ECO2 Driven™ technology. Unlike traditional adhesives that rely on high Global Warming Potential (VOC) chemical blowing agents, this formula utilizes naturally occurring atmospheric gases, significantly reducing environmental impact while maintaining superior adhesion strength and ease of application.

Swift®melt 1850 is a pressure-sensitive hot-melt adhesive that performs ideally on paper mailers, envelopes, and corrugated boxes. Made with bio-based content, it helps reduce use of fossil fuels, single-use plastics, and energy consumption while ensuring consistent adhesion performance and package integrity to improve packaging recyclability.

Ködispace 4SG insulating glass technology offers numerous advantages for sustainable construction. It enhances the durability and energy efficiency of windows while lowering the total carbon footprint of building envelopes. By extending the lifespan of building facades and reducing the frequency of replacements, Ködispace 4SG contributes to long-term sustainability, minimizing carbon emissions over time.

Global Environmental Stewardship

As responsible environmental stewards, we regularly look for opportunities throughout our operations to improve our energy efficiency, reduce our greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and waste, and limit our use of natural resources such as water. We seek to optimize our processes and engage our employees as active participants in sharing accountability for reaching our sustainability targets.

Solar installations now power operations in the U.S., India, Colombia, China, and Indonesia — with some sites generating up to 30% of their electricity needs. A new manufacturing facility in Cairo, Egypt, and eco-efficiency upgrades in Germany and the UAE are reducing emissions and water use across the company’s global footprint. In Germany, a closed-loop recycling program recovered 435 metric tons of material and reused over 16,500 drums, significantly reducing waste and raw material use.
