About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

1Kosmos Achieves FedRAMP High Authorization for Phishing-resistant Identity Verification Platform

Certification validates 1Kosmos for use by federal government and critical infrastructure providers to secure most sensitive unclassified data

1Kosmos, a leader in unifying identity proofing and passwordless authentication, today announced that it has achieved FedRAMP High Authorization, the highest level of security compliance under the Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP). This designation validates that the 1Kosmos platform meets the stringent security requirements necessary to handle the federal government’s most sensitive unclassified data, including law enforcement, national security, financial, and healthcare systems.

The authorization was granted following a rigorous, multi-month assessment process. With 421 required controls—covering advanced cryptography, automated flaw remediation, personnel screening, and boundary protection—FedRAMP High is designed to protect against security breaches that could result in severe or catastrophic effects, including mission failure or irreparable institutional damage.

The 1Kosmos platform is available as part of FedHive’s FedRAMP High Impact offerings. It is the only Kantara-certified full service credential service provider (CSP) platform that also holds a FedRAMP High authorization.

“This milestone reflects our commitment to delivering the highest level of trust, privacy, and assurance to our government and enterprise customers,” said Mike Engle, Co-Founder and Chief Strategy Officer of 1Kosmos. “Achieving FedRAMP High enables agencies and critical infrastructure providers to deploy our platform for identity proofing and phishing-resistant authentication with confidence, knowing it meets the most stringent standards for availability, confidentiality, and integrity.”

With FedRAMP High Authorization, federal agencies and contractors can use the 1Kosmos platform to secure high-impact systems without compromising user experience or compliance. 1Kosmos helps agencies modernize digital identity systems and protect against advanced threats like identity impersonation, credential compromise, and account takeover—while ensuring adherence to NIST, FIPS, and Executive Order 14028 mandates.

1Kosmos provides government and critical infrastructure customers the following end-to-end capabilities:

  • Unified identity proofing and phishing-resistant authentication in a single, secure solution that verifies users with biometrics and government-issued credentials, applying advanced liveness detection to block deepfakes, bots, and spoofing attempts.
  • Unlike traditional methods that rely on passwords or outdated MFA, 1Kosmos authenticates the actual person behind the login—not just what they know or have.
  • The platform delivers a frictionless login experience by replacing passwords with biometric-based authenticators that protect against identity theft, account takeovers, and fraud—without compromising usability.

In addition to FedRAMP High, 1Kosmos is also certified to NIST 800-63-3, FIDO2, ISO 27001, SOC II Type 2, and Presentation Attack Detection (PAD) Level 2 in accordance with ISO/IEC 30107-1 and ISO/IEC 30107-3.
