About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Snappt Names James Hyde as CEO to Lead Next Phase of Growth and Innovation

Hyde, Snappt to unveil vision for expanded solutions at Apartmentalize 2025

Snappt, the trusted verification platform for the multifamily housing industry, today announced the appointment of James Hyde as Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately. Hyde succeeds Co-Founder Daniel Berlind, who will transition to Executive Chairman and continue to play a key role in Snappt’s strategic vision, innovation, and trust category leadership.

Hyde joins Snappt as a proven growth-stage executive with a strong track record of building and scaling high-performing SaaS platforms. He most recently served as CEO of Venminder, where he led the company through 5x revenue growth. He also brings experience from leadership roles at PayPal, iPay, and Braintree, and is known for driving operational excellence, product innovation, and customer-centric growth with a focus on industry engagement.

“Snappt pioneered fraud detection in multifamily housing and earned the trust of industry leaders through dependable, AI-powered solutions,” said Co-Founder Daniel Berlind. “As we approach our next phases of growth and innovation, James brings the perfect blend of strategic vision and operational discipline to guide Snappt’s evolution. I’m excited to support him as we continue to expand our impact and elevate how we support our customers.”

A Platform Built on Trust

As part of its evolving leadership and vision, Snappt has expanded its product offering with the Snappt Suite, an integrated set of solutions built to safeguard the application process. Over the past six years, Snappt has analyzed more than 13 million documents, helped prevent an estimated $1.9 billion in potential bad debt, and currently protects 2.2 million units.

“Snappt is more than a product; it's a promise backed by a reputation for accuracy, innovation, and integrity,” said Hyde. “I’m thrilled to lead a company that is redefining what trust means in the rental industry. Together, we’ll scale our vision for trust infrastructure, helping property managers make confident, data-driven decisions in an increasingly complex landscape.”

With Hyde at the helm, the company is focused on expanding its suite of AI-powered fraud detection, ID verification, income verification, and payroll connectivity. New capabilities on the horizon include bank account linking and verification of assets—all designed to better serve both mid-market and enterprise property managers. The comprehensive offering is paired with a streamlined, user-friendly applicant experience that makes the verification process faster and more transparent for renters.

Vision and Momentum on Display at Apartmentalize 2025

Snappt will debut its next chapter live at Apartmentalize 2025, one of the industry’s largest annual events, taking place June 11–13 in Las Vegas. With its biggest presence yet, Snappt will showcase new fraud prevention insights, immersive experiences highlighting its real-world impact, and opportunities for media and partner engagement. Attendees can also expect standout moments, including exclusive access to company leaders and a signature entertainment event headlined by musical guest Ludacris.

Hyde and Berlind will both attend Apartmentalize to meet with customers, partners, and press.
