About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

JFF Horizons is an event focused on innovation and thought leadership in every sector of the learn and work ecosystem, themed “Dare To Be Brave.” University of Phoenix is a partner with JFF and a supporting sponsor of the Horizons Summit.

“University of Phoenix designs academic programs from a deep understanding of career-focused working adult learners,” shares Dr. Neider. “We have leveraged our understanding to expand an ecosystem that equips students with market-relevant skills and career tools, turning academic achievements into career milestones, and transforming the educational journey of learning while earning.”

Employers, students and talent development partners will find this session offers actionable insights into a scalable model for career-centered learning. The panel features Neider, Goncalves and Bhakta discussing how the University of Phoenix integrates academic programs, employer engagement, and advanced technology to impact the journey from learning to earning.

“Today's learners want more than credentials, they want career progress. At the same time, employers are urgently seeking talent with the right skills to meet business demands,” says Goncalves. “At University of Phoenix, we're building an ecosystem that doesn't just bridge education and jobs: it actively connects the dots between what students learn, what employers need, and how we scale talent mobility. That's how we help learners pursue advancement, and organizations close skills gaps holding them back.”

Bhakta will provide session attendees with insights into Career Navigator, a personalized career guidance platform that helps learners explore pathways, define goals, and act on data-driven insights. “Within the Career Navigator, students can build a robust career profile by capturing the skills they have demonstrated in the classroom, as well as those they may have gained from prior work and life experiences. Those skills are then aligned to real jobs, helping students quickly identify opportunities in their career journey, while also helping employers with their talent sourcing needs,” shares Bhakta.

The session will highlight the University's collaboration with 2,000+ employers through its Adaptable Skills Solutions, offering customized workforce assessments in partnership with the University’s technology affiliate Skillmore™ and a transformational combination with professional development and discounted education benefits. Skillmore™ is a trademark of Talent Mobility, Inc., an affiliate of University of Phoenix and requires a separate agreement for its services.
