About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Essential Utilities Names Daniel Ramirez-Cisneros as President of Aqua Texas

Ramirez-Cisneros boasts nearly a decade of industry experience; succeeds recently retired Craig Blanchette

Essential Utilities Inc. (NYSE: WTRG) today announced Daniel Ramirez-Cisneros as the new President of Aqua Texas. Ramirez-Cisneros, previously the Director of Operations for Aqua Texas, will oversee Aqua’s water and wastewater operations across the state, guiding capital investment, regulatory compliance, and customer service during a pivotal phase of growth. The appointment is part of the company’s long-term succession plan to maintain leadership continuity.

Daniel Ramirez-Cisneros named President of Aqua Texas.

“Daniel brings the right mix of operational strength, financial fluency, and water-sector insight to lead Aqua Texas forward,” said Colleen Arnold, Aqua President. “He’s already delivering results on the ground, and with Texas as one of our fastest-growing markets, his leadership will be instrumental in scaling responsibly and advancing critical infrastructure.”

This transition comes as Aqua Texas plans significant capital investments in the coming years focusing on operational optimization, including remote monitoring (SCADA), water and wastewater plant expansion, water supply renewal, main replacement, PFAS mitigation, and route and labor efficiency projects.

Previously, Ramirez-Cisneros served as Utilities Manager for the Puerto Rico Financial Oversight Board, where he was instrumental in the development of a $5 billion recovery plan and oversaw a $1 billion infrastructure budget for the Puerto Rico Aqueduct and Sewer Authority. He also held roles with 374Water and began his career in institutional finance at the Bank of Montreal. Ramirez-Cisneros holds a Master of Environmental Management from Duke University and a B.A. in Economics from the University of Texas at Austin.

This announcement comes after the retirement of Aqua Texas President Craig Blanchette, who steps down following a distinguished 17-year career with the company spanning multiple regions. Blanchette began his career with Aqua in 2008 in Illinois. He served as President of Illinois from 2014 until he was named President of Texas in 2022, where he focused on improving the customer experience and navigating the state’s unique water challenges and opportunities.

“It’s a privilege to lead Aqua Texas at a time when the state is making historic investments in water infrastructure,” said Ramirez-Cisneros. “I’m grateful for Craig’s example and excited to work with our team to modernize systems, strengthen community partnerships, and deliver reliable service for the next generation.”
