About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Tricentis Appoints Eran Sher as Chief Product Officer to Lead the Future of AI-Augmented Software Quality

Dynamic leader with more than 25 years of enterprise software experience assumes role with vision to drive rapid acceleration of value realization of Tricentis’ AI-augmented software quality platform

Tricentis, a global leader in AI-augmented software quality, today announced the appointment of Eran Sher as Chief Product Officer to lead the next stage of the company’s platform growth enabled by advancements with AI. With a career spanning over 25 years in building and scaling category-defining innovations in software development, testing, and enterprise software, Sher steps into this role to accelerate Tricentis’ execution of its product strategy and further develop its innovation agenda during a transformative time for the industry.

This appointment comes on the heels of key product and platform advancements, including Tricentis' announcement of its industry-first Remote Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers and Tricentis Agentic Test Automation. These updates, in conjunction with the latest release of the company’s model-based test automation solution Tricentis Tosca, are a part of Tricentis’ larger strategy that will redefine AI-augmented software testing as AI drastically alters the speed and rate of change in the software testing space.

“We’re at a pivotal moment in software development with AI redefining how code is written, tested, and released,” said Sher. “Tricentis has long cemented itself as a leader in software quality driving AI innovation and adoption, and I’m thrilled to leverage my experiences to further shape this vision of delivering the solutions our customers need to thrive in this evolving landscape.”

Vision for the next 18 months

Sher’s vision centers on building the future of software testing and quality engineering in an AI-first world. His priorities include:

  • Delivering the most advanced testing products to help customers accelerate value realization and release quality software faster.
  • Accelerating AI innovation across Tricentis’ platform, including test automation, management, performance, and quality intelligence.
  • Launching new beta programs and co-development initiatives with enterprise customers to bring cutting-edge solutions to market faster.
  • Deepening collaboration with enterprise resource planning (ERP) partners to deliver next-gen testing tools tailored for complex enterprise environments.

A legacy of innovation and a culture of collaboration

Sher has extensive experience in building transformative platforms. As co-founder and CEO of SeaLights, which was acquired by Tricentis in 2024, he pioneered AI-powered quality intelligence and test impact analysis. Prior to that, Sher co-founded Nolio, a continuous deployment platform acquired by CA Technologies, and held leadership roles at Mercury Interactive, PortAuthority Technologies, and Conduct.

Sher emphasizes cross-functional alignment as a cornerstone of his leadership. He will work closely with engineering, marketing, sales, customer success, and partner teams to ensure the product vision is deeply connected to customer needs and market dynamics.

"Eran’s ability to turn theoretical ideas into practical application and customer-focused approach to product make him the natural fit to lead our exceptional team of product experts,” said Kevin Thompson, Chief Executive Officer, Tricentis. “As we accelerate time-to-value, lead AI innovation in the software quality space, and provide customers with the solutions they need to deliver strong business outcomes, Eran will play a critical role in driving our mission to empower teams toward their goal of high-quality software.”

Through its recent global expansion efforts in Ireland and Latin America, $1.33 billion strategic investment by GTCR, and prioritization of AI research and agentic AI strategy, Tricentis is poised to continue its leadership as the premier software quality engineering partner for enterprises across industries.
