About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Render Networks Unveils New Capabilities to Accelerate Work Closeout and Invoicing for Broadband Construction

Expanding upon field-first leadership, Render Networks delivers new mobile tools to help improve field execution for backhaul, middle-mile and rural fiber deployments

Render Networks, a leader in digitalizing network construction management, today has introduced enhanced mobile capabilities designed to improve field execution across a wide variety of broadband projects, including rural builds, middle-mile, and backhaul deployments.

These field-first enhancements enable construction crews to adapt to field changes and variability in real-time while maintaining accurate records and visibility across the entire network build. As backhaul projects, including fiber to data centers, drive massive demand, and middle-mile deployments reach remote areas, crews need flexible, intelligent tools that can handle unpredictable conditions and deliver consistent, high-quality results.

“One of the core tenets of ADB’s digital transformation is listening to the voice of our field teams and adapting our systems to meet their needs,” said David Sharp, VP of National Standards at ADB Companies. “Render Networks’ latest mobile release reflects that same customer-centric mindset. These new capabilities allow our crews to accurately capture work as it’s completed, accelerating closeout and invoicing while improving the accuracy of our as-built network. For middle-mile projects, this flexibility is critical to documenting partial completions across long fiber spans.”

To support this need for flexibility and precision, Render Networks has introduced two key mobile capabilities that give crews greater control and accuracy in the field. First, to manage the inevitable real-world conditions that drive changes from proposed deployment plans, crews can now easily break down long linear tasks, such as trenching or conduit installation, into smaller segments on the fly. This allows them to capture partial completions, accommodate required splicing, and align billing and QA processes with real-time progress.

In addition, offline performance has been enhanced. Field teams working in low-connectivity areas can now access and sync not only assigned tasks but also underlying design data, enabling more informed decision-making when plans shift and ensuring a seamless mobile experience as crews move between project areas.

“Our customers are delivering the digital backbone for the AI era. Building infrastructure at the required speed and scale demands real-time adaptability without compromising quality,” said Stephen Rose, CEO at Render Networks. “With this new mobile functionality, our customers can better manage complexity and adapt to unforeseen challenges while keeping costs under control.”

Together, these improvements strengthen Render Networks’ ability to support operators and builders delivering large-scale backhaul and data center infrastructure. By improving how work is tracked and executed in the field, Render Networks continues to deliver on its promise of intelligent, high-velocity network deployment.

Render Networks will showcase these mobile enhancements at the ISE Expo, Booth #1628, July 29-31 in New Orleans. Don’t miss Rob Laudati, SVP of Product, speaking on “How AI & Digital Innovation Will Reshape Network Construction” on Tuesday, July 29.
