About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Maximus Expands Preadmission Screening and Resident Review (PASRR) Services in Colorado, Delaware, and Louisiana

Recent contract awards grow the company’s PASRR assessment footprint to 15 states

Maximus, a leading employer and provider of government services, announced the expansion of its Preadmission Screening and Resident Review (PASRR) services with a new contract in Colorado, the renewal of a contract in Delaware, and the launch of program operations in Louisiana. As a trusted partner with deep experience and broad capabilities for assessing individuals with complex needs, Maximus now supports 15 states with their PASRR programs.

PASRR is a federally mandated screening process that helps ensure individuals with serious mental illness, intellectual or developmental disabilities are appropriately evaluated before admission to Medicaid-certified nursing facilities. The process helps connect individuals to the most suitable setting and services, supporting care in the least restrictive environment. Maximus delivers PASRR Level I screenings, clinical reviews, and Level II evaluations and monitors PASRR service delivery on an ongoing basis for states across the nation.

New work in Colorado

In partnership with the Colorado Department of Health Care Policy and Financing, Maximus helps the state identify individuals who have a serious mental illness, intellectual disability, or related condition who are applying for admission to a nursing facility, through Level I screens, then conducts Level II evaluation assessments to determine appropriate placements and identify disability-specific services and supports to meet their needs. The company continues its work by monitoring the delivery of services and supports in nursing facilities and helping the state to facilitate transitions back into the community.

“Quality and integrity drive greater efficiency. The reliability and accuracy of our person-centered assessments streamline the referral management process in Colorado, providing individuals with quicker access to services and supports and providers with more time to focus on patient care,” said Christa Ballew, Senior Managing Director for Clinical Services, Maximus. "To further improve the provider experience, we launched a fully accessible website with state-specific PASRR training materials, resources, and provider communication announcements.

Continued partnership in Delaware

Building on a partnership that included the successful transition from a paper-based to a fully electronic system to improve service delivery, Delaware Health and Social Services again selected Maximus as its PASRR vendor. Since 2021, Maximus has conducted an average of more than 1,000 Level I and II screenings across the state each month, with faster review times and improved placement outcomes.

“Delaware was the first state to achieve full certification from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services for its PASRR module, along with the Maximus AssessmentPro system,” Ballew explained. “Our secure technology solution provides state leaders with advanced reporting and analytics that show program performance for greater accountability and trends for more informed decision-making.”

New program operations in Louisiana

Earlier this year, Maximus launched operations to administer PASRR Level I services for the Louisiana Department of Health, Office of Aging and Adult Services. The company’s clinical professionals use a person-centered approach to delivering online PASRR Level I screens for individuals who are applying to Medicaid-certified nursing facilities. Maximus is also assisting providers with the transition from paper-based submissions of Level I screens to digital submissions in the Maximus AssessmentPro system.

With a 25-year history of delivering PASRR services, Maximus supports programs in Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Louisiana, Maine, Mississippi, New York, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, Tennessee, and Virginia. This growing footprint reflects the company’s proven track record for delivering clinical services and assessments that support better outcomes for individuals and more efficient and effective programs for state agencies.
