About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Sinclair’s CHARGE Network Adds Emmy®-Winning Homicide: Life on the Street

Critically Acclaimed Series Returns to Broadcast Television on September 1, Bolstering CHARGE’s Powerhouse Lineup of Police Procedurals

Sinclair today announced that all seasons of the multi-Emmy® and Peabody Award-winning series Homicide: Life on the Street, in addition to Homicide: The Movie, will join the fall schedule of its popular, police procedural driven, multicast network CHARGE on September 1, marking the acclaimed drama’s return to broadcast television.

Homicide: Life on the Street delivers an unvarnished look at the rigorous detective work of a homicide division in Baltimore. Based on the book Homicide: A Year on the Killing Streets by David Simon, creator of The Wire, the series redefined the police procedural genre with its raw storytelling, deft dialogue, and groundbreaking cinematic style.

Homicide: Life on the Street originally launched in 1993 and ran for seven seasons on NBC. The pilot was directed by Oscar-winning director, Barry Levinson, and the critically acclaimed series went on to win four Emmy Awards®, three Peabody Awards, and numerous nominations and accolades from the Television Critics Association, Directors Guild of America, NAACP, and Writers Guild of America. It also featured an outstanding ensemble cast with award-winning talent including the late Andre Braugher and Richard Belzer, and Academy Award® winner Melissa Leo, as well as a wide array of iconic guest stars including Chris Rock, Robin Williams, Paul Giamatti, Edie Falco, Jake Gyllenhaal, Luis Guzmán, Marcia Gay Harden, Steve Buscemi, and Vincent D’Onofrio.

The addition of Homicide: Life on the Street comes as CHARGE expands its fall programming slate, anchored by some of the most iconic police procedural franchises including Criminal Minds, CSI: Miami, CSI: NY, and Law & Order: Criminal Intent.

Homicide: Life on the Street broke new ground in the crime drama genre and remains one of television’s most compelling and authentic series,” said Adam Ware, SVP, Growth Networks Group at Sinclair. “We’re proud to bring it back to broadcast on CHARGE, where it joins a powerhouse lineup of iconic law enforcement franchises like Criminal Minds, CSI, and Law & Order. This addition reinforces CHARGE as the ultimate destination for fans of smart, high-stakes procedural drama.”

In addition to the launch of the series, CHARGE has also announced that CHARGE CON 2026, their annual tentpole event, will air in May 2026 and feature Homicide: Life on the Street.

From Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, Homicide: Life on the Street was created by Paul Attanasio and written and executive produced by Tom Fontana. Barry Levinson, Harry Bromwell, and Jim Finnerty were also executive producers. Producers included Gail Mutrux, Julie Martin, James Yoshimura, Jorge Zamacona, Anya Epstein and David Simon. The series is distributed by NBCUniversal Global TV Distribution in the U.S. and by Fremantle internationally.

CHARGE is available free over the air and on streaming platforms across the country. To find CHARGE in your area visit www.watchcharge.com.
