About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Sinclair Names Taylor Murray as Anchor for The National News Desk

Nationally Syndicated Newscasts Airing Across 80 Stations

Sinclair today announced that journalist Taylor Murray has joined The National News Desk (TND) as an anchor for its nationally syndicated newscasts.

Launched in 2021, The National News Desk delivers comprehensive national, regional, and local news by drawing on the extensive resources of Sinclair local stations across the country. TND currently airs in 80 markets nationwide, across multiple dayparts.

Murray joins Sinclair with more than a decade of experience, with roles ranging from producer and reporter to lead evening anchor in multiple markets. Most recently, she anchored the 4, 5, 7, 10, and 11 p.m. newscasts in Greenville, SC, after serving as an anchor and reporter in Charleston, SC, and holding production roles in New York.

A graduate of Southeastern University with a degree in broadcast journalism, Murray is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists and the Junior League of Washington, and volunteers with Meals on Wheels and the Alliance of Therapy Dogs.

“Taylor’s experience, passion, and dedication to fair, fact-based journalism makes her an exceptional addition to The National News Desk team,” said Valeria Riccioli, Director of Content, The National News Desk. “Her versatility and commitment to connecting viewers with impactful stories will strengthen our mission to deliver trusted news to audiences nationwide.”

Murray joins Jan Jeffcoat, Dee Dee Gaton, Mark Boyle, Ryan Smith, Angela Brown, Geoffrey Harris, and Emma Withrow on the anchor desk.

“It’s a tremendous honor to join the dedicated team of journalists at The National News Desk,” said Murray. “With a strong commitment to truth and a genuine curiosity about the issues shaping our communities — locally, nationally, and globally — I’m eager to tell the stories that matter most to our viewers.”

In addition to its daily coverage, The National News Desk includes several distinctive segments, including Spotlight on America, Sinclair’s national investigative reporting unit, producing in-depth, original accountability and enterprise reports, recently winning a National Press Club Award, Fact Check Team, which focuses on fact-checking issues relevant to political discourse and Pulse of America, showcasing local news stories from Sinclair's stations across the country, highlighting various communities and perspectives.

The National News Desk has seen steady growth with a 61% increase in weekly reach over the last three years.*

The National News Desk elevates some of the most important stories occurring in cities and towns across the country,” said Scott Livingston, SVP of News, Sinclair. “With reporters residing in the communities they cover, The National News Desk has access to real stories from the perspectives of those they affect directly.”

The National News Desk is nationally syndicated across 80 of Sinclair’s stations, and available on TheNationalDesk.com, free of charge with no subscription, log in or authentication required. TND is also available live and on demand on YouTube.
