About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Toast and Bon Appétit Celebrate 2025’s Best New Restaurants List

Toast joins Bon Appétit to celebrate the freshest voices in the industry—and the 1,000 little things it takes to reach the top—with exclusive content, special menus, and more.

Opening a new restaurant is an act of courage and passion—a challenging venture that requires vision, a commitment to excellence, and a thousand little things gone right vs wrong to make it a success. To celebrate a new class of top restaurant talent, Toast (NYSE: TOST) has teamed up with Bon Appétit to present its highly anticipated 2025 Best New Restaurants list, reinforcing Toast’s commitment to supporting the rising hospitality leaders, risk takers, and operators that are writing the industry’s next chapter.

BA’s annual Best New Restaurants list spotlights the most exciting new restaurants nationwide. Chosen by a group of editors and restaurant experts, the list offers a snapshot of dining trends that have defined the year. The 2025 theme of homecoming recognizes places that serve as more than a restaurant, with those on the list offering a special connection to cities, heritage, or community.

Toast has always recognized restaurants as the heartbeat of communities, and as the technology platform purpose-built for hospitality, Toast is uniquely positioned to drive the success of new local businesses, with restaurants on the Toast platform reporting revenue more than 30% greater than the average US restaurant*. This year, Toast is proud to work with 14 out of 20 restaurants recognized on BA’s list.

“Toast knows how rewarding and difficult restaurant operations can be, which is why we’re focused on building a platform that powers places people love, giving restaurateurs the tools they need to make it through that first year—and those that come after it,” said Kelly Esten, Chief Marketing Officer at Toast. “It is also why we are delighted to partner with BA and celebrate this year’s Best New Restaurants list. As one of the most influential voices in the culinary world, Bon Appétit is a source of inspiration and a career-defining platform for chefs and restaurateurs. Together, we’re recognizing the incredible restaurants on this year’s list, the teams behind them, and their special place in our communities.”

As the official sponsor of this year’s list, Toast and BA have co-created content on winning restaurants that will appear in the print magazine, as well as online and across social platforms. To encourage guests to join the celebration, Toast and Bon Appétit have teamed up with select Best New Restaurant honorees on limited-time menu offerings, available only from September 15th through September 28th, 2025. Restaurants and dishes include:

  • Minnie Bell’s Soul Movement (San Francisco, CA): Smoked Molasses BBQ Meatballs with Feta & Fresh Herbs
  • Baan Mae (Washington, DC): Fi’Lao O’Fish
  • Lenox (Seattle, WA): Tres Leches Flan Cake

“Bon Appétit’s Best New Restaurants list is one of our biggest moments each year, and we are thrilled to have Toast as a sponsor for 2025. When our editors travel across the country in search of the year’s best restaurants, they pay attention not only to the food but also the team behind it, and all of the detailed operations that go into making a successful restaurant run smoothly,” said Leslie Yeh, Senior Director, Brand Marketing at Bon Appétit. “As the technology platform that powers so many great restaurants, Toast is the perfect partner to help celebrate the launch of the list with special menu items and stories of what goes on behind-the-scenes at some of this year’s most exciting honorees.”

Since 1956, Bon Appétit has been the essential destination for people who live to eat: people who love to cook, restaurant enthusiasts, and anyone committed to thinking about food as a lens through which to explore the world. Millions of monthly viewers turn to the BA’s print and digital platforms for inspiring and informative restaurant content that covers award-winning fine dining as dynamically as a corner cafe.

Toast’s partnership with Bon Appétit is part of Toast’s Little Things campaign, which has included content and collaborations throughout 2025 with industry leaders like Keith Lee and Sophia Roe and award-winning restaurants like Marea.
