About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Universal Ads Launches AI-Powered Video Generator to Bring Free TV Commercial Ad Creation to Every Advertiser

The new tool, which dramatically reduces time, cost, and complexity of TV ad production, was developed in partnership with Creatify, an AI platform that recently received a new investment from Comcast Ventures.

Universal Ads, which enables brands of any size to create, buy, and measure ads across premium video, today launched a new in-platform ad creation tool that lets advertisers build commercials using generative AI in just minutes. With no need for pre-existing video assets, businesses of any size can now tap into the premium world of television and create ready-to-air campaigns.

Since its launch in January, Universal Ads has been focused on making TV advertising as easy and accessible as social media advertising. With its new AI-powered video generator, currently in beta, brands can upload their existing marketing materials or website content onto the Universal Ads platform to begin their ad creation. From there, they can refine the visuals, messaging, and more to create a polished 15-second ad.

“We often hear companies say they want to be on TV but don’t have commercials ready to air or the budget to make one,” said James Borow, Vice President of Product and Engineering at Universal Ads. “Having a native creative feature in platform immediately resolves that concern for brands and makes the Universal Ads platform a one-stop-shop for advertisers from campaign creation to delivery and measurement.”

Key Features of Universal Ads’ AI-Powered Video Generator:

  • Instant Creative Production: Generate high-quality TV-ready ads that can be added to campaigns for end-to-end launch in minutes.
  • Multi-Audience Targeting: Build tailored, impactful creative by selecting multiple audience segments within a single campaign.
  • Customizable AI-Generated Scripts: Start with a library of customizable generative AI scripts, with tone options like motivational, casual, or engaging to match your brand voice.
  • Automated Asset Capture: Instantly pull in brand assets, product images, and messaging directly from your website to build authentic, on-brand ads.

The AI-Powered Video Generator was developed in partnership with Creatify—an AI platform founded by a team of AI engineers and researchers that powers high-performance video ads and recently received a new investment from Comcast Ventures. Comcast Ventures backs emerging technologies that strategically align with innovation opportunities across Comcast's businesses, including Universal Ads.

In addition to this new tool, which is being rolled out in beta to select advertisers throughout the month, Universal Ads has a first-of-its-kind TV Business Partners Program, designed to give brands flexibility to work with the creative partner of their choosing. This enables businesses who have a preferred creative partner to easily integrate them into Universal Ads workflow and ensure continuity.

With these cutting-edge resources, brands are able to run their campaigns across programming from 16 major publishers available with the Universal Ads platform including A+E, AMC Networks, DIRECTV, Estrella MediaCo, Fox Corporation, Fuse Media, LG Ad Solutions, NBCUniversal, Paramount, Roku, Scripps, Spectrum Reach, TelevisaUnivision, Vizio, Warner Bros. Discovery, and Xumo, with more to come.
