About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Guidewire Named a Leader in the 2025 Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for SaaS P&C Core Platforms

Guidewire InsuranceSuite placed highest for its Ability to Execute and furthest on Completeness of Vision for the second consecutive year; Guidewire InsuranceNow again named a Challenger

Guidewire (NYSE: GWRE) has announced its recognition as a Leader in the 2025 Gartner Magic Quadrant for SaaS P&C Core Platforms, North America, for InsuranceSuite, placed highest for its Ability to Execute and the furthest for Completeness of Vision.

The Gartner report evaluated solutions from 14 vendors within the property and casualty (P&C) insurance industry. Read the full report.

“Software as a service (SaaS) property and casualty (P&C) insurance core platforms enable insurers to support the administration of a range of P&C insurance products. SaaS adoption for P&C insurers seeking core platforms for modernization, consolidation or to meet new needs is almost ubiquitous in North America,” Gartner wrote. “They are mission-critical systems for insurance companies, foundational for digital optimization and enablers for digital transformation.”

“The future of how work gets done and the role of embedded AI in core insurance systems (including machine learning, GenAI and AI agent) brings a sharp focus on vendor roadmaps, support for regulations, delivery capabilities and even their future business model,” Gartner continued.

“We are honored that Guidewire is again recognized as a Leader in the Magic Quadrant for SaaS P&C Core Platforms, and grateful to our customers and partners for their trust,” said Brian Desmond, Chief Marketing Officer at Guidewire. “We believe this recognition affirms our vision for intelligent insurance, where cloud, data, and AI work together to help insurers move faster, serve customers better, and shape the future of the industry.”

More than 140 Guidewire (InsuranceSuite) customers have selected Guidewire Cloud. In addition to recent momentum with InsuranceSuite, functionality designed to further enhance financial and risk insight includes:

  • Niseko Release: Provides developers with pre-built insurance data models and embedded financial intelligence to improve decision-making, while introducing a new extension layer and Guidewire Functions to simplify customization and automate business logic.
  • Mammoth Release: Helps insurers adapt to market shifts by enabling predictive analytics at the point of decision and enhancing underwriting support, while also streamlining policy management and simplifying claims and recovery processes.
  • Las Leñas Release: Transforms how insurers anticipate and address complex challenges by introducing Guidewire Industry Intel, which delivers advanced predictive insights for property and casualty insurance.

Guidewire (InsuranceNow) was recognized as a Challenger in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for SaaS P&C Core Platforms, North America.

InsuranceNow, an all-in-one, cloud-based core insurance platform for regional and super-regional property and casualty (P&C) insurers and managing general agents (MGAs) in the U.S., gained recent momentum:

  • Analytics Manager embedded in InsuranceNow lets carriers plug in Guidewire and third-party models — like HazardHub, Predict, and Industry Intel — for real-time insights that improve risk selection, pricing, and claims decisions.
  • ISO Rating-as-a-Service (RaaS) for InsuranceNow streamlines commercial lines quoting with real-time ISO rates, enabling more accurate policy rating and easier compliance with industry standards.
  • Claims Intel: Available pre-built market validated Intel is embedded in InsuranceNow workflows to automate and augment key decisions for better business outcomes.
  • InsuranceNow GO Commercial Lines delivers out-of-the-box ISO-based coverage, rapid multi-state deployment, and streamlined configuration, enabling carriers to launch new commercial products up to 50% faster and with less effort.

More than 40 insurance carriers and MGAs in the U.S. have selected InsuranceNow as their all-in-one core system.
