About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

CSI Chief People Officer Roxanne Martinez Named ALX100 Honoree

By: via Business Wire

Recognition highlights Latino leaders making meaningful impact across Massachusetts

CSI, a leading provider of end-to-end financial software and technology, today announced that chief people officer Roxanne Martinez has been named one of the ALX100 honorees by We Are ALX. The prestigious recognition celebrates 100 Latino leaders across Massachusetts who make a meaningful impact in their respective fields and communities.

Since joining CSI in December 2023, Martinez has led initiatives that have strengthened the company's culture and employee experience. Her accomplishments include revamping talent acquisition, implementing workplace flexibility programs, rolling out modernized benefits including flexible time off and expanded medical plans and launching CSI's competency model for professional development. Under her leadership, employee engagement metrics have improved across nearly every dimension.

"This recognition could not be more deserved," said Nancy Langer, CEO of CSI. "In less than two years at CSI, Roxanne has driven impactful transformation, even as we've integrated multiple acquisitions including Velocity Solutions and Hawthorn River. Behind the scenes, she is a tireless advocate for all of our employees and has consistently championed making CSI the best possible place to work through periods of significant growth."

Martinez brings more than 25 years of experience transforming organizations through challenging moments, including more than 13 years in executive HR leadership roles at companies like Liberty Mutual Insurance. Her expertise in private equity-backed company talent transformations has been instrumental in guiding CSI through its evolution.

"I'm honored to be recognized alongside so many incredible Latino leaders who are making a difference across Massachusetts," said Martinez. "This recognition reflects not just my individual journey, but the collective commitment at CSI to creating an enriching, rewarding and inclusive work environment where our people can learn, develop and grow their careers while being inspired and empowered by capable leaders."

Martinez's impact extends beyond CSI through her board service with the Association of Latino Professionals for America (ALPFA) and The Women's Edge as well as other nonprofit organizations. She has been recognized multiple times as one of the “50 Most Powerful Latinas in the U.S.” by the ALPFA and is a member of its Hall of Fame. She holds a bachelor's degree in politics from Brandeis University and a law degree from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law.

ALX launched in 2017 as a non-partisan, collaborative nonprofit with the mission of advancing Latino American prosperity and leadership representation in Massachusetts. The organization builds networks, champions equitable policies, offers business programs and shapes positive narratives of Latino Americans while elevating emerging leaders.

Martinez will be celebrated alongside fellow honorees in The Boston Globe Magazine and at the annual ALX100 event during Hispanic Heritage Month. The ALX100 list was featured in the Sept. 14 edition of the Globe Magazine, with the celebration event scheduled for Oct. 17.
