Clean Harbors Announces Used Oil Collection Price Increases in Its Safety-Kleen Sustainability Solutions Business

Company Adjusting Rates and Service Stop Fees within SKSS in Response to Market Dynamics

Clean Harbors, Inc. (“Clean Harbors” or the “Company”) (NYSE: CLH), the leading provider of environmental and industrial services throughout North America, today announced that its Safety-Kleen subsidiary is updating pricing and rates for the collection and management of used engine and industrial oils. These changes, which will be effective October 1, reflect the Company’s continued commitment to maintaining the service quality of its re-refinery business.

“Our re-refined products play a critical role in reducing environmental impact by transforming waste oils into valuable resources and sustainable products,” said Brian Weber, President of Safety-Kleen Sustainability Solutions (SKSS). “However, ongoing declines in market prices for base oil, vacuum gas oil (VGO), and recycled fuel oil (RFO) continue to reduce the current value of these recovered materials. At the same time, we are still experiencing rising costs associated with maintenance of our fleet and facilities, our skilled labor force and the impact of tariffs on the supply chain. Given these market conditions, we are required to further adjust our rates as we approach the seasonally weaker winter period to preserve the financial performance and service quality of our sustainability-driven operations within our SKSS segment.

“These adjustments, which will apply to all customers in both the U.S. and Canada, are necessary to ensure Safety-Kleen can continue delivering reliable, environmentally responsible waste oil collection to more than 100,000 customers annually,” Weber added. “Waste oil collection customers can qualify for our preferred rate schedule if they are or become purchasers of our Performance Plus finished lubricants as part of our OilPlus™ program.

“We gather approximately one out of every five gallons of waste oil in North America. Our waste oil collection services are a cornerstone of the circular economy, and these changes will help us sustain that mission while adapting to evolving market conditions,” Weber concluded.
