About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

For Diners: The Local Spots You Love, Now Even Easier to Enjoy

From neighborhood favorites to new spots to try, Going Out helps consumers discover, book, and save.

Unlock in-store rewards: Turn every outing into a chance to save! Explore the new Going Out tab in the DoorDash app to discover and redeem exclusive in-store offers and earn rewards for repeat visits. Customers using Going Out offers receive an average of $9 in value per order.*

Going Out in-store rewards are available at thousands of restaurants in select U.S. and Australia markets for DashPass members — and for a limited time, all DoorDash consumers can try it out.

Book reservations and exclusive tables: For the first time, diners will be able to book restaurant reservations directly through the DoorDash app — and earn credits with every booking toward future DoorDash orders. From casual dinners with friends to Michelin-star celebrations, DoorDash makes it easy to book top spots — including coveted tables at restaurants like The Corner Store in NYC and Casadonna in Miami. DashPass members get even more, including exclusive tables, extra rewards, and discounted Lyft rides.

In-app reservations will debut soon in Miami and New York, expanding to additional cities later this year through our partnership with SevenRooms.

“Going Out saves you time, saves you money, and soon – saves you a seat,” said Parisa Sadrzadeh, VP of In-Store, DoorDash. “We’re giving consumers a seamless way to discover and book at nearby spots while saving and earning rewards, all in one place, making DoorDash your go-to companion for dining out locally.”

"People come to our restaurants because they want more than just a meal – they’re looking for an experience. Partnering with DoorDash gives more guests the opportunity to enjoy our restaurants, and with SevenRooms, we can make sure that from the second they book to the moment they leave, it feels seamless and unforgettable," said Eugene Remm, Partner, Catch Hospitality Group.

For Restaurants: New Tools to Drive Traffic and Build Guest Relationships

DoorDash is also introducing new tools for restaurants through Going Out and its integration with SevenRooms, giving partners more ways to attract diners and create memorable experiences for guests.

“DoorDash’s Going Out has been great for my business, my brand visibility, and my bottom line,” said Victor Escobedo, owner at Papalote in San Francisco. “It’s brought in a steady stream of new customers, and the margins are strong.”

Since February 2025, 80% of customers who tried Going Out visited a restaurant they’d never ordered from before. With Going Out, restaurant partners unlock new opportunities to bring even more customers in the door by promoting special offers to dine in-store directly in the DoorDash app, driving incremental and measurable foot traffic. Restaurants using SevenRooms gain access to a suite of helpful new tools to grow their business and create memorable experiences for diners. More information can be found here.

  • Gain a 360° Guest View for Smarter Marketing: Integrating SevenRooms with DoorDash’s Commerce Platform will give restaurants a complete view of their first-party guests across delivery, pickup, walk-ins, and reservations—enabling automated marketing to drive traffic across channels.

“With SevenRooms, we’ve found a true partner in deepening our relationships with guests across Union Square Hospitality Group’s nine unique concepts,” added Danny Meyer, Founder and Executive Chairman of Union Square Hospitality Group and Founder of Shake Shack. “The platform gives us actionable insights that enable us to deliver personalized, memorable hospitality at every interaction. Building the Future of Dining

For consumers, it means more discovery, rewards, and access to in-person dining experiences. For restaurants, it means smarter tools to help drive profitable traffic and build deeper guest relationships. Together, these new capabilities advance DoorDash’s vision of empowering local commerce—helping restaurants grow, and helping consumers connect with the best of their local communities.
