About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

1Kosmos Secures Position as a Full-Service Credential Service Provider Under New GSA Category

Inclusion in GSA’s SIN 541519CSP Validates 1Kosmos as a Trusted, Compliant Vendor for Federal Digital Identity Services

1Kosmos, a leader in unifying identity proofing and passwordless authentication, today announced that it has been named a Full-Service Credential Service Provider (CSP) under the General Services Administrations (GSAs) newly established Special Item Number (SIN 541519CSP). The company’s inclusion was secured in collaboration with Carahsoft Technology Corp., The Trusted Government IT Solutions Provider®. This inclusion marks a significant milestone in expanding the accessibility of secure, NIST-aligned digital identity services for Federal agencies.

“This designation reinforces 1Kosmos as a proven, high-assurance credential service provider aligned with the U.S. Government’s highest standards for digital identity,” said Hemen Vimadalal, CEO of 1Kosmos. “As agencies modernize their identity infrastructure, 1Kosmos offers faster procurement, lower integration risk and a FedRAMP High-authorized cloud platform built for secure identity proofing and lifecycle management at scale.”

SIN 541519CSP is a newly created category under the GSA Schedule to streamline how Federal agencies procure digital credentialing services. The SIN identifies pre-vetted vendors that meet stringent technical, privacy and operational requirements derived from NIST SP 800-63. This includes full-service Credential Service Provider (CSP)s that deliver end-to-end enrollment, identity verification, authentication, credential lifecycle management and component-service providers.

The GSA CSP SIN imposes additional Federal-grade security and compliance requirements. To qualify, vendors must be listed on the Kantara Trust Status List, demonstrate conformance with the Identity and Authenticator (I&A) requirements of NIST SP 800-63 and maintain at least a FedRAMP Moderate Authorization to Operate (ATO) or be actively pursuing FedRAMP authorization.

1Kosmos inclusion in SIN 541519CSP reflects the company’s commitment to privacy-preserving, phishing-resistant identity services. The company delivers secure, scalable identity verification and authentication used daily by leading Government agencies and Private Sector organizations worldwide.

The new SIN also reflects broader Government efforts to consolidate procurement, improve digital trust, and reduce inefficiencies. According to the GSA, Federal spending on credential services has grown sixfold in recent years—from $6 million to $36 million—driven by agencies such as the Department of Veterans Affairs, which accounted for $18.83 million in awards in fiscal year 2023 alone.

“The addition of 1Kosmos to GSA’s SIN 541519CSP is a critical step in expanding access to its solutions,” said Tyler Nelson, Sales Manager who leads the 1Kosmos Team at Carahsoft. “This accomplishment highlights 1Kosmos’s dedication to providing advanced cybersecurity solutions for Government agencies. We look forward to working with 1Kosmos and our reseller partners to support innovative initiatives in the Public Sector.”
