About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Hauck to showcase innovative Corvias-Vitacorps partnership as a key to military readiness and infrastructure modernization.

Hauck will join a high-level panel discussion titled, "Investing in health pays back: Lessons from the field." Moderated by Whitney Austin Gray, SVP of Research at IWBI, the session will explore the connection between investments in health and enhanced business performance. Hauck will share Corvias’ belief, built through its long-standing partnership with the Army, that healthy indoor environments are essential to strengthening U.S. service member readiness. She will be joined by fellow panelists Serene Almomen, Co-Founder and CEO of Attune, and Susan Chung, PhD, Associate Director of Enterprise Research at HKS.

During the discussion, Hauck will discuss Corvias’ innovative path forward through a strategic partnership with wellness solutions provider, Vitacorps. This partnership deploys targeted, point-of-use wellness technologies focusing on fundamental elements like air, water, light, and humidity.

"Our strategic advantage has always been tied to our innovation,” said Hauck. “We want our residents to feel good in their homes, that’s why, through our partnership with the US Army we’re investing in advanced solutions from Vitacorps to make service members’ homes more comfortable and human-centric. When we create environments that truly support the people who live and work in them, we strengthen the foundation of readiness."

As part of the discussion, Hauck will present a case study demonstrating how Corvias’ Wellness at Home™ approach delivers measurable results. Enhancements at nearby Fort Meade, Md., resulted in pilot project homes achieving WELL for residential certification and delivered significant improvements, including:

  • A 71.7% reduction in harmful PM2.5 air particulates in bedrooms and a 56.7% reduction in living rooms, which helps to reduce exposure to smoke, viruses and bacteria, as well as mold spores.
  • Reduction in disinfection byproducts, heavy metals and inorganics, as well as substantial reduction in organics/VOCs in drinking water and helping future proof against “forever chemicals” such as PFAS.
  • Resident satisfaction rates of 95% for air quality and 93% for water quality post-implementation.

Hauck will also share insights on how the initiative delivers on the primary right listed in the DOD Tenant Bill of Rights: the right to a healthy home. By investing in the well-being of military families, the program strengthens retention, which is a critical component of maintaining a strong, all-volunteer force.

The IWBI Policy Summit convenes members of Congress, federal agency officials, and C-Suite executives to advance policy that supports healthier, more resilient buildings that enhance human health and well-being.
