About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Lectra Tape: Paving the Path to Proactive Rehabilitation

In a world where millions suffer in silence from the debilitating pain of osteoarthritis and other muscle-related ailments, one startup is making strides in shifting the paradigm of rehabilitation from reactive to proactive. Meet Lectra Tape, a revolutionary product born out of a son's desire to alleviate his mother's suffering and help the millions of others around the world struggling with similar issues.

The journey began when the founder Jake Henry’s mother, who had been suffering from osteoarthritis for over a decade, reached a point where she needed a knee brace just to move. Witnessing her struggle was heartbreaking, and it sparked a determination to create a solution. "I couldn't watch her struggle anymore," Jake recalls. This determination led to the creation of Lectra Tape, a non-invasive conductive kinesiology tape designed to wirelessly help individuals suffering from muscle pulls, strains, and arthritis live a happy and healthy life. After just one session with Lectra Tape, Jake’s mother was able to function pain-free and even started running and doing Zumba for the first time in 10 years.

However, the road to creating Lectra Tape was not without its challenges. "Entrepreneurship is a lonely process, and a lot of the time you get extremely stuck to the point where it might seem impossible," Jake shares. It's a sentiment that many entrepreneurs can relate to, but Jake's persistence and belief in the product's potential carried him through. "I always tell myself that this moment I'm at is where most people give up and always have the persistence to close the distance of surmounting over any obstacle."

What sets Lectra Tape apart from other rehabilitation products is its proactive approach. Rather than addressing problems after they arise, Lectra Tape aims to help people before the problems occur. With 126 million people in the United States affected every day by muscle pulls, strains, and arthritis, leading to time-consuming and expensive rehab methods, Lectra's goal is to ensure that physical ailments do not hold people back from living the happy and healthy life they deserve.

Launching in Q4 of this year, Lectra already plans to disruptively innovate the rehabilitation industry, with a partnership with the University of Pennsylvania, and numerous contracts, with sports teams and physical therapy offices. And who knows, maybe this could be the $500M solution the pickleball community has been looking for to their pains and injuries.

Lectra Tape is not just a product; it's a movement towards a more proactive approach to rehabilitation. With a unique product that addresses a widespread problem, a founder driven by a personal mission, and a commitment to helping people live happier, healthier lives, Lectra Tape is poised to make a significant impact on the world. As the founder reflects on the journey, one message stands out: "Our goal is to empower people to pave their own path to recovery by creating the most effective rehab goals in the world."
