About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Lead Generation: Debunking the Myths By Rev Dr Alfie Wines

By: Get News

Every entrepreneur knows, “No audience, no leads, no clients, no business!” It’s simple as that! You can have a great offer, a great message, a great strategy, but if you have neither audience, leads, nor clients, you don’t have a business.

Yes, lead generation can be a real challenge. In fact, in his article titled “68% of Companies Admit to Struggling with Lead Generation.” Viktor Nagornyy suggests “thatnumber should be up in the 80s if everyone honestly answered the survey”

With the Internet, one might hope that lead generation challenges were a thing of the past. However, nothing could be further from the truth. In fact, the Internet and technology may have exacerbated the problem. Why? Salvatore Minetti, CEO at Fountech Ventures, quoted in “Lead Management Strategies To Supercharge Your Sales Team,” suggests it’s because

companies continue to use “traditional sales and lead generation techniques [which] are typically labour intensive, expensive and time-consuming, with sales and marketing professionals forced to carry out repetitive and tedious tasks in the hope that a lead will eventually convert.”

Assessments like this abound. However, it doesn’t have to be that way. It’s time to make complex lead generation strategies a thing of the past. It’s time to introduce a streamlined lead generation strategy.  First, let’s debunk some myths about lead generation.

  • Myth #1 – Lead generation is time-consuming.
  • Myth Buster #! – While this may be true for some systems of lead generation, with the right methodology, lead generation can be done in 30 minutes or less a day.
  • Myth #2 – In “How Many Sales Touches Does It Take to Make a Deal In 2021? Tito Bohrt, observes “It takes 18 sales touches on average to get a response from a prospect.” This idea assumes that it takes a long time to build the “know, like, and trust factor” necessary for a potential client to actually make a purchase.
  • Myth Buster #2 – With the fast pace of the Internet, decision-makers often make purchases after just a few touches. It’s not so much the number of touches, but sufficiency of the information in those touches. If the promotion provides the information a potential client needs, decisions can be made with just 2 or 3 touches.
  • Myth #3 – With so many touches needed, businesses need to prepare websites, sales pages, funnels, blogs, vlogs, podcasts, books, e-books, mini-books, handouts, workbooks, worksheets, newsletters, magazines, summits, public events, webinars, sales calls, Facebook/Meta ads, etc. to get people’s attention.
  • Myth Buster #3 – While these can be helpful, the job can be done with just FB Lives, eliminating all of that preparation work.
  • Myth #4 – Lead generation requires hiring lots of staff.
  • Myth Buster #4 – This also is not true. One part-time VA (Virtual Assistant) working as few as 5 hours a week can get the job done.
  • Myth #5 – Lead generation is expensive.
  • Myth Buster #5 – Most people who say this are thinking in terms of running ads. However, ads are not required. Leads can come from organic traffic alone.
  • Myth #6 – Lead generation is so overwhelming it often results in inconsistency and burnout.
  • Myth Buster #6 – Lead generation need not be overwhelming. Streamlined lead generation systems can be done in just a few minutes each day. Even better, lead generation is a task that can be delegated to a VA to assure consistency. Freed of this task, professionals can do creative work that keeps an organization moving forward.
  • Myth #7 – It takes a lot of time to learn and implement a new lead generation strategy.
  • Myth Buster #7 – It depends on the strategy. It takes only a few hours to learn and begin to implement this new strategy.

Designed to alleviate the overwhelm associated with lead generation, this streamlined strategy provides a sophisticated way to work smarter, not harder. With this strategy the stress of lead generation is definitely a thing of the past!
