About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

With a President now above the law, Aftermath Boy retraces history’s steps presently threatening Democracy and Individual Freedom
A new novel of the intergenerational trauma of Holocaust survivors and how their experiences mirror current threats to democracy and freedom.

With his first novel, Aftermath Boy, septuagenarian Robert E. Honig, son of Holocaust survivors, depicts how a mother's Holocaust history shapes her son’s youthful follies that come back to haunt him as history’s lessons about the rise of fascism overwhelm the aging baby boomer. Democracy and the 2024 election hang in the balance.

“Aftermath Boy” by Robert E. Honig is a profound exploration of history, trauma, and the relentless quest for justice and understanding. The novel masterfully intertwines the harrowing experiences of Holocaust survivors with the contemporary struggles of their descendants, creating a narrative that is both deeply personal and universally significant.” - Robert Atunda for onlinebookclub.

“The author's background as a former congressional task force writer and his representation of a Star Wars program whistleblower during the Reagan era lend credibility to the political themes woven throughout the book. Honig's experiences in Washington DC and his connections with speaking groups in the area have undoubtedly influenced the novel's exploration of power, corruption, and the fight for justice.” – Literary Titan.

“Robert E. Honig’s “Aftermath Boy” is a powerful and thought-provoking novel that delves into the lasting impact of historical trauma and the ongoing struggle for justice and understanding. Its blend of historical accuracy, emotional depth, and social commentary makes it a unique and significant contribution to both literature and history.”  A family saga with deep psychological insight. History, politics and law come together to reveal how the waves of catyclismic events wash over generations. The U.S. government's complicity in the murder of the Jews in 1944 reflects an indifference to truth and justice coincident with the implosion of the Republican Party today.  Antisemitism a century ago merges with the divide and conquer rhetoric creating an intolerable American schism.  Honig creates characters that reflect the cause and effect of autocracy that can menace anyone.

We are thrilled to announce that "Aftermath Boy" has been honored with the esteemed Literary Titan Silver Book Award. This accolade highlights the book’s exceptional narrative and profound impact on readers. Literary Titan praised the novel, stating, "Honig’s storytelling provides a powerful and thought-provoking reflection on how history continues to shape contemporary identity and society." This recognition underscores the novel's compelling exploration of historical influences on modern life.
