About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Aeros Completes Construction of eVBA Cargo Bay Iron Bird

By: Get News
Building the Next Generation of High-Margin Air Logistics

May 22, 2025 - LOS ANGELES - Aeros, a pioneer in airship innovation, has successfully completed the construction of its eVBA Cargo Bay Iron Bird, marking a major milestone toward the commercial launch of its electric Variable Buoyancy Airships (eVBA). This newly completed testing platform is designed to validate the airship’s cargo handling systems and demonstrates the platform’s capacity to meet diverse logistical demands. From packages and pallets to oversized equipment and high-value goods, the eVBA system is engineered to handle a broad spectrum of cargo types—including humanitarian aid and military supplies—without the limitations of traditional ground-based logistics.

The Iron Bird platform automates cargo management, eliminating the need for conventional ground handling equipment. This innovation significantly reduces operating costs and accelerates turnaround times, ultimately improving supply chain efficiency. It also supports in-flight cargo pickup and drop-off, enabling complex delivery operations without requiring the airship to land. This capability is particularly suited for just-in-time logistics and remote or underserved regions.

Aeros CEO Igor Pasternak described the development as a significant leap forward in the evolution of air cargo technology. He emphasized that this accomplishment reinforces Aeros’s position as a first mover in the global high-margin logistics sector, a market valued in the billions of dollars.

The Aeros eVBA airships offer substantial cargo capacity, with the ML806 providing 3,200 cubic feet and the larger ML866 offering an impressive 264,000 cubic feet. These volumes are ideal for transporting lightweight, bulky, irregular, or high-value cargo. Designed for compatibility with ISO containers and oversized equipment, the airships offer a viable alternative to traditional transport systems, effectively bypassing port congestion and terminal delays.

Aeros’s business model is built around scalable operations with lower operating costs and high cargo throughput, supporting sustained long-term margins. As fully electric airships, eVBAs produce zero emissions, aligning with global ESG goals for sustainability and carbon reduction. Their ability to operate independently of existing infrastructure—such as congested ports and overburdened road networks—provides added operational flexibility and enhances predictability in logistics planning.

About Aeros:

Aeros is a global leader in designing, FAA certifying, manufacturing, and delivering advanced airships and aerostats worldwide. For over a century, airships have faced a fundamental challenge—losing stability as cargo is unloaded. Competitors have failed to solve this. Aeros has not only solved it—we’ve patented it. Like a submarine adjusting depth, our aircraft control buoyancy in real-time, enabling unrestricted logistics from transcontinental freight to last-mile delivery—without ground infrastructure.
