About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Rediscovering the Foundations of Faith and Philosophy New Book Explores the Influence of Ancient Greek Thinkers on Christian Thought

Ancient Greek philosophy has long been admired for its deep influence on Western thought, but a new book by Vassileios Bellios, "Ancient Greek Philosophers: The Christians before Christ," throws light on an interesting intersection between ancient Greek wisdom and Christian theology. This insightful book, translated from Greek by Elena Kladi, discusses the lives and teachings of great Greek thinkers and their unexpectedly deep connections with Christian principles in the sense that the ancient authors, in this regard, somehow represented precursors to Christian ideas.

The book by Bellios is an exciting study of how ancient Greek philosophy provided a foundation for many concepts that later became an integral part of Christian theology. The author draws parallels between the teachings of Socrates, Plato, Aristotle, and many other philosophers in the book to show how their pursuit of truth, justice, and divinity resonated with the values at the heart of Christian doctrine.

Ancient Greek Philosophers: The Christians before Christ is neither a scholarly discussion nor an impossible read for all to understand the underlying historical and philosophical roots of Western thought. For it reveals how these two towering traditions share, in fact, a common intellectual ancestry and what this means.

A fine example of work with philosophical and religious convergences, Bellios' book allows the reader to be absorbed by the timeless search for truth and wisdom. It cuts through cultural and time boundaries and easily merges the old with the modern in a meaningful dialogue.

This is a must-read book for students, scholars, and anybody interested in the continuing impact of ancient Greek philosophy on the growth of Christian thought. Now it's here and promises to become a great resource in libraries looking for that book that illuminates profound connections between two of Western civilization's two pillars.

This book is now available on Amazon: www.amazon.com/dp/1917613490 and all over the major retail stores around the world.

About the Author:

Vasileios Bellios was born in 1937 in Greece, in the small village of Tzivas in Arcadia. He studied medicine at the University of Vienna in Austria where he also obtained a doctorate. Following the completion of his military service in Greece, he returned to Vienna, and specialized in obstetrics and gynecology.

He eventually returned to Greece, where he excelled as a dedicated medical professional, helping women and successfully delivering over 5000 babies. While practicing his profession, he has also been involved in providing lectures on the subject of Greece’s demographics, fertility, and human relationships, in several parent associations and schools throughout Greece.
