About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Guizhou Meijin Railway Siding Passes Final Acceptance – Southwest Hydrogen Energy Industry Benchmark Sets Sail

By: Get News

On August 27, Liuzhi in Guizhou welcomed a new artery for energy transition—the Guizhou Meijin Railway Siding passed its final acceptance, setting a benchmark for the clean and efficient utilization of coal and coke resources in Southwest China.

Regional Benchmark Leading the Green Future

Constructed by China Railway 23rd Bureau Group, the Guizhou Meijin Railway Siding is a critical supporting project of the Guizhou Meijin Coal-Coke-Hydrogen Comprehensive Utilization Demonstration Project. Located in the Liuzhi Special District of Liupanshui City, Guizhou Province, the 2.64-kilometer line encompasses eleven disciplines, including subgrade, tunnels, bridges, and signaling, communication, and power systems. With an annual designed transport capacity of 8 million tons, this siding serves as a vital logistics channel for the Liupanshui industrial base. It will continuously supply coal, coke, hydrogen energy, and related materials to the industrial park, significantly enhancing regional logistics efficiency and supporting Liupanshui’s transition from traditional "black energy" industries to green and efficient "green hydrogen" energy.

Efficient Logistics Building a Core Hub

The project includes a new modern enterprise station, featuring scientifically planned storage tracks, loading/unloading lines, and pull-out tracks to establish an efficient railway transport system. Currently, the station is fully equipped with supporting facilities such as tracks, subgrade, communication, signaling, power, and environmental protection systems, laying a solid foundation for safe, intelligent, and green operations. This will strongly support cost reduction and efficiency improvement in regional logistics.

Technology Driving the Energy Revolution

In the development of Guizhou’s hydrogen energy industry chain, this siding plays a key role as a critical link. Leveraging the supporting hydrogen energy industrial park, it facilitates the scientific conversion of coal resources into hydrogen raw materials, promoting a closed-loop process for hydrogen production, storage, transportation, and application. Not only does it optimize the regional energy supply structure, but it also actively contributes to the national "Carbon Peak and Carbon Neutrality" goals. This project explores a replicable and scalable practical path for the energy revolution in Southwest China.

"The opening of the Meijin Railway Siding is a significant milestone in Guizhou’s efforts to promote green energy transition, providing strategic support for regional energy security and economic upgrading," said Shao Guosong, the project manager.
