About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Lauren Malyon Unveils Transformative Ambient Debut “Opus 27”

By: Get News
Canadian-born, LA-based musician Lauren Malyon announces her debut solo album Opus 27, released May 2025 on Peace of Mind Studio, marking a new chapter in her creative evolution.

Musician and multi-instrumentalist, Lauren Malyon has released her debut solo ambient album Opus 27, available now on Peace of Mind Studio. The 10-track project blends ambient textures with cinematic piano, synths, and strings, exploring themes of transformation, reinvention, and self-trust.

With over 75 million streams across her collaborative projects, Malyon’s solo debut marks a significant creative milestone. A classically trained pianist and violinist originally from Canada, Malyon has spent the last two decades building a career that spans classical performance, indie pop, ambient production, and international touring.

Opus 27 follows a trio of 2024 EPs Morning Light, Midnight Reverie, and Beneath the Surface, and features Malyon’s signature blend of emotionally layered instrumentation and atmospheric sound design. The album’s release signals a shift in focus toward her solo artistry after years of high-profile collaborations.

“Opus 27 signifies a new chapter for me. I started this ambient music journey last summer, and even though I’ve been making music my whole life, I was just learning how to record midi. Fast forward to the last few months, I found myself in a hotel room in Seoul, comfy in a robe, inspired and experimenting with creating more layers and sounds.”

One of her most notable collaborations has been with genre-defying artist Chiiild (Avant Garden/Def Jam). As a touring member and studio contributor, her vocals, violin, and songwriting appear on albums including Hope for Sale (Juno-nominated), Better Luck in the Next Life, and Synthetic Soul. She’s brought those songs to life on global stages including Lollapalooza, Gov Ball, and Life Is Beautiful.

Malyon is also the co-founder of INNER, a boutique label developed in partnership with longtime collaborator Yonatan Ayal. INNER operates as a subsidiary of Peace of Mind Studio, with a roster including her collaborative project IRYS BLUM, as well as frogi, VAAAL, chase.wav, and Kayla Jo.

In addition to her own projects, Malyon has contributed violin for artists like Chiiild, Winona Oak, Tash Sultana and Roselyn Sanchez, and her musical contributions have appeared in shows including Ginny & Georgia (Netflix) and Bad Monkey (Apple TV). She’s also performed in support of acts like Leon Bridges, Emotional Oranges, and KT Tunstall, with appearances spanning North America, Europe, and Asia.

With Opus 27, Lauren Malyon enters a new creative phase; one defined by introspection, artistic freedom, and a deeper sense of self.
